Position Description

This position is integral in completing network optimization initiatives for Zayo Networks that are driven by Real Estate forced relocations, ISP cost savings, fiber migrations, lit network grooms and access cost reductions. This role will be responsible for analyzing existing network traffic, working with engineering on designing alternate paths, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on traffic migrations, and updating databases.

Responsibilities


  • Planning - Internal review of project to see cost and potential optimization at order/service level.


  • Engineering - Working with Layer 2/3 engineering teams to complete physical and logical audit of the circuits, notate database logistics


  • New circuit design and documentation support as needed


  • Operations - Create MOP, coordinating with Zayo customers to schedule maintenance requests


  • Secure internal resource NCC and local field operations resources for assistance in circuit migration


  • Update status and progress in Salesforce on a daily and regular basis


  • Verify and update project documentation, dependencies & deliverables


  • Submitting change orders for customer circuits to reflect revised network path within CRM system (salesforce.com)


  • POC on customer circuit grooms as part of overall network optimization project, giving status to both internal and external stakeholders


  • Update CRM & engineering databases to mark project completion & updated network inventory


Qualifications


  • Detail oriented, quality driven, self-directed, and self-motivated team player


  • Prior exposure to technical engineering concepts, with telecom/fiber infrastructure terminology a plus


  • Familiar with fundamentals of provisioning fiber based circuits in a datacenter environment, including patches, cross-connects, risers, and backhaul


  • Experience working in a team within a complex and fast paced environment


  • Good problem solving skills with the ability to focus on the salient facts in order to resolve an issue


  • Experience organizing multiple, time sequenced tasks across several concurrent projects


  • Familiar with Google docs & sheets, email


  • Good communication skills - verbal and written


  • Bachelor's degree required. Emphasis on Electrical, Mechanical, Networking or Telecommunications Engineering preferred


  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Two years of experience in the area of IP, Ethernet, or Waves network engineering desired
