Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Chief Mechanical Engineer to join the Indianapolis, IN Engineering Team. This position will be responsible for leading our New Product Design team, supporting project design teams by performing and completing work engaged in research and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical commercial locksets and hardware. You will take responsibility to projects, project teams, and their performance through all aspects of the project.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Works independently and as a project team member through the project phases of a NPD project


• Takes full responsibility for the project, and project technical team and their efforts, direction


• Assists the Project Manager and Product Manager in project justification and planning activities


• Assists Product Management in roadmap development and feasibility for new technologies and applications


• Monitors and reports project status and develop contingency plans to assure that product development tasks are completed within time and budget constraints


• Participates with electrical, software and manufacturing engineers in the integrating of mechanical and electronic hardware with software for electromechanical product designs


• Creates and Analyze design concepts and detailed designs to assure compliance with product requirements, design specifications and compliance standards


• Creates and review test plans, test procedures, and test results to verify compliance with product requirements and quality standards


• Lends technical and analytical expertise to aid in the analysis and refinement of product design concepts


• Performs calculations and/or uses computer analysis software to develop, analyze, and refine product models and design concepts

REQUIREMENTS

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required (Master's degree in related field a plus)


• Minimum 8 years work experience in engineering


• Project Management experience required


• Must be able to travel up to 25% and use public transportation
