Responsibilities

Department Summary:

Draper's Finance organization, representing Accounting, FP&A, Treasury and Government Compliance / Cost Analysis is trusted upon by senior leadership and U.S. government regulatory agencies to manage financial operations and provide key strategic, financial and operational information that is critical to Draper's ongoing success.

Job Summary:

The Treasury and Investment Analyst II will play an important role in supporting Draper's liquidity, investment, risk management and capital structure operations. The Treasury and Investment Analyst II is responsible for investment monitoring, effectuating treasury and investment transactions, insurance support, audit support, compliance activities and facilitating interactions with numerous external banking, securities and insurance providers.

Essential Functions:

    Investment Operations:

    • Operational support for Draper's Corpus (>$175 million endowment-like portfolio which is managed by an outsourced chief investment officer).

    • Maintain accounts administration, reconcile investment accounting entries and reports, prepare monthly dashboards and support financial reporting related to Draper's investment accounting.

    • Further operational support for Draper's retirement portfolios, including both defined contribution plan (>$1 billion) and defined benefit plans (>$100 million), which are managed by a third party.

    • Assist the Retirement Plan Oversight Group (RPOG) with the processes and procedures to record, monitor and evaluate investment performance.

    • Support fair value financial reporting and audit requirements, as well as policy decisions and documentation.

    • Monitor and analyze investment performance and present updates to senior leadership



  • Corporate Insurance Program:

    • Work daily, as needed, with Treasury Team Lead, external brokers and internal Draper stakeholders to ensure all Draper business is supported by appropriate insurance coverage.

    • Support annual insurance renewal exercise working with Treasury Team Lead, program offices, and other internal stakeholders to assess new business development that may require adjustments to insurance policies.

    • Assess ad-hoc insurance requests for new projects with external brokers.

    • Resolve insurance related claims or questions with external brokers.



  • Cash management / short-term investing:

    • Process transactions related to short-term cash accounts and working capital lines of credit and assist with all related reporting.

    • Interact with external banking institutions as needed.

    • Assist in compliance related activities regarding working capital.

    • Assist in bond administration and interest and principal payment as needed.

    • Monitor and analyze cash trends and present updates to senior leadership



  • Project management / process improvement:

    • Treasury is continually tasked with projects that span multiple topic areas and competencies (e.g., corporate investing, retirement plans, cash management and risk management). These projects are a critical part of the role, working closely with the Treasury Team Lead across all business areas (especially Finance & Administration) and with external partners, is critical to executing at a high-level for senior management/Board of Directors. Candidate will be expected to develop material for c-suite executives, coordinating internal and external resources for the execution of projects.

    • Identify and execute on opportunities to improve efficiency and resiliency of processes within Treasury team and broader Finance organization



Qualifications

Required experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting and 2-4 years' experience in finance-related work with treasury and/or investments experience strongly preferred

  • Analytical mindset, intermediate to advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with analysis and modeling

  • Knowledge of fundamental economic and financial securities concepts related to treasury and institutional investing

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritize and multitask.

  • Ability to quickly develop an understanding of unfamiliar and often niche topics, including aspects of the organization's operational characteristics, business drivers and culture
