Job Description



Our water + environment team develops technical and strategic solutions that keep the community healthy and resilient-with a right-sized, responsive approach.

Responsibilities:


  • Working within a design team to solve problems, develop concepts, and prepare design drawings and construction documents for water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance, pumping, storage, and treatment projects.

  • Collaborating with design engineers, project managers, and technicians to meet clients' project goals and objectives.

  • Lead multi-disciplinary design teams in preparing clear, concise, drawings and details for use in proposals, schematic, conceptual, and detailed design, project bidding, construction, and record documents.

  • Managing multiple tasks simultaneously and completing assignments within prescribed budgets and schedules. Assist engineers in creating estimated time/personnel requirements for projects.

  • Independently performs most assignments with minimal oversight and instructions as to general results expected. Usually has several ongoing concurrent assignments and provides project updates to the manager regularly.

  • Organizes and plans own work, preparecomplicated designs while working closely with engineers, may supervise a group of entry/mid-level CADD technicians, and may assist with CADD workload coordination in the group.

  • Performs thorough quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for company and client drawing standards compliance, discipline coordination, and ensure engineering comments have been addressed.

  • Coordinates drawing submittals to clients, governmental agencies, permitting agencies, etc. for reviews, approvals, and other milestones.

  • Ability to work with Practice Teams to develop and improve on company and water practice standards and subsequently distribute standards to the practice teams, working closely with team members to ensure successful rollouts of updates.







Minimum Qualifications




  • High school diploma or GED plus 15 years of progressive CADD design experience in municipal and/or industrial water, sewer, and stormwater practice; OR, Associate's degree in Computer-Aided Drafting with 13 years of progressive CADD design experience in municipal and/or industrial water, sewer and stormwater practice; OR, Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of municipal water, sewer, and stormwater design experience and CADD proficiency.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Civil 3D. Microstation experience is a plus.

  • Experience working with BIM360, NewForma, ProjectWise, and local servers is a plus.

  • Previous experience with design of process mechanical systems associated with water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and collection and distribution systems.

  • Strong organizational skills, along with considerable experience in interpreting and executing assignments, prioritizing multiple tasks, coordinating assignments (often with Multi-disciplinary involvement), and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

  • Working knowledge of general design requirements specific to the water and wastewater market.

  • Working knowledge of basic engineering calculations.

  • Ability to read and develop Process & Instrumentation drawings/diagrams a plus.

  • Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, and BlueBeam experience are a plus.
