Job title:             Senior Regional Project Engineer

Location:            Hackettstown, NJ/Elizabethtown, PA/Waco, TX

Segment:            Wrigley Confectionery

 

Overview

This Regional Project Engineering Role will be a part of the MWC Americas Major Projects Team.  The individual in this role will be responsible for all aspects of planning and executing projects from ideation to project closure.  The scope of the role could include leading projects in the areas of buildings and infrastructure, process, general manufacturing processes, and packaging systems depending on business needs.  The role owns the overall leadership of major capital projects via the MWC Engineering Execution Standard.  This role will be based out of, or require significant travel to most of our major sites across North America (Hackettstown, Elizabethtown, Waco)

 

Key Responsibilities

Associate


  • Develop industry and product specific relevant technical skills

  • Develop personal effectiveness and functional interpersonal competencies

  • Motivate fellow associates by high quality solutions that protect the integrity of our product

  • Participate in the recruiting process when requested

  • Provide innovative Engineering solutions that drive a competitive advantage

 

Business


  • Ensure delivery of assigned objectives for scope, time, budget, and cash flow

  • Maintain the project adherence to scope, deliverables, and critical success factors

  • Communicate with the project steering team to ensure project objectives are achieved

  • Seek and apply appropriate technology to gain and a sustain technical competitive advantage

  • Support initiatives that shorten new product and project cycle times

  • Seek and support lean ways of working and apply lean principles in the engineering process and as a project deliverable

  • Understand and make decisions to improve business measurements such as Return on Total Asset earnings (ROTA), Fixed Asset Turnover Ratio (FATR), etc.

 

Functional


  • Continuously improve technical knowledge

  • Depending on project parameters personally design systems and select hardware, or direct third-party engineering firms providing design services to meet their contract deliverables

  • Continuously improve personal efficiency and performance to provide value added engineering

  • Key member and contributor of the Commissioning, Validation, and Start Up (CVS) Team

  • Actively participate in the development of engineering standards and tools

  • Support safety, security and environmental policies

  • Contribute innovative ideas to provide competitive advantage

  • Identify, protect and expand intellectual property of corporation

  • Maximize asset utilization through value added engineering and lean design

 

Leadership


  • Support project objectives and challenge activities not aligned with those objectives

  • Directly manage all assigned project work

  • Understand and support the Five Principles, Vision to Win, and the Winning Environment

  • Effectively monitor and improve a safe work environment

  • Ensure delivery of quality work

  • Actively plan and participate in project activities

 

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree in Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; an advanced degree in Engineering or MBA is a plus.

  • 5-10 years’ experience in an comparable technical position - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable

  • Understanding of engineering principals - knowledge of engineering disciplines: Process, Packaging, Electrical, Construction or Computer Services

  • Good communication, listening and influencing skills

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Innovative thinking

  • Able to work collaboratively with other groups

  • Approximately 20-60% travel requirement depending on project demands
