KMHS is Kitsap’s nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. Mental Health Professional Shift Supervisor (12hrs/wk.) Crisis Triage Facility - Multiple Shifts Available! 

As a Mental Health Professional Shift Supervisor, you will collaborate with a hands-on team approach using evidence-based behavioral health practices that help ensure quality care of your clients. You will provide supervision to case managers, peer counselors, and treatment aids. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO


  • Provide oversight on the admission process for the CTF, triaging the waitlist, streamlining the processes, and making sure that clients are able to access care in a timely manner.  Complete the MHP required portions of the intake assessment. 

  • Provide oversight on discharge process for the CTF to ensure that clients have a completed discharge plan within 24hrs of admission, and support in coordination with the SUD Residential Facility for admission of clients who require substance use residential services. Complete the required portions of the discharging process. 

  • Work with the CTF Manager and Director to hire, train, coach, develop, evaluate, and work on performance improvement (if necessary) of supervisees.  Provide regular individual supervision for assigned staff.   Document and keep records of significant interactions. Complete performance appraisals within agency standards and timelines.

  • Work closely with the CTF Manager, RN Supervisors, Physicians, Designated Crisis Responders, and others to organize a cohesive crisis intervention – a direction(s) that compliments the efforts of the outpatient providers.

  • Promote the enhancement of positive staff morale by facilitating a timely response to problems, ensuring thorough and accurate internal communications, and providing opportunities for staff recognition.

  • Take appropriate measures to meet client daily basic needs for health and safety including but not limited to the following tasks: a) prepare and serve meals, b) conduct safety checks of the KCCTC units, c) monitor clients according to the assigned levels of observation, d) assist in maintaining a clean work environment, e) assist in maintaining sufficient inventory of food and non-food items.

  • Work with the CTF Manager and Director to review and assess the accuracy of current unit policies and procedures.  Identify which needs revision and work collaboratively to revise as necessary.

  • Monitor and plan the use of unit resources to be within budgetary guidelines especially those related to unit activities and extra staffing.  Provide input and assist the CTF Manager in budget preparation.

  • Directly supervise the floor staff of the CTF and their daily responsibilities by assigning tasks, program and group facilitation assignments, etc. 

  • For continuity of care, facilitate Pass-downs.  Facilitate multi-disciplinary staffings, incorporating technological media when appropriate and feasible.

  • Work with the Designated Crisis Responders when clients require a higher level of care. 

  • Facilitate a common language within the unit as to assessing acuity, risk, and methods of intervention.

  • Conduct an ongoing review of clinical charts for compliance.

  • Facilitate post-incident debriefings using Crisis Prevention Intervention principles.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING


  • A master’s degree in behavioral science and meets the criteria as a Mental Health Professional in the state of Washington.

  • The following topics/skills are considered highly desirable for this position:  supervisory experience, working knowledge of the Involuntary Treatment Act, Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change Theory, Co-Occurring Disorders, Dialectical Behavioral Theory (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Theory, inpatient or crisis adult psychiatric work with chronically mentally ill clients and computer skills.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
