KMHS is Kitsap’s nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. During 2016, KMHS provided services to more than 6,800 children and adults. Behavioral Health Tech - Adult Inpatient Unit (12hrs/wk.) Wednesdays only!

As a Behavioral Health Tech, you will p

rovide on-going assistance to clients in 24/7 Services while maintaining a safe and therapeutic work environment. You will act appropriately in assisting clients in meeting their daily basic needs for health and safety, assist in meeting client treatment objectives as directed by the treatment team, provide appropriate documentation as required by KMHS policies and procedures, and support behavioral tech level staff coverage across the 24/7 Recovery Services department including Adult Inpatient Unit (AIU), Youth Inpatient Unit (YIU), Crisis Triage Facility (CTF), Pacific Hope and Recovery Center (PHRC), and Residential Services (RS).

To improve the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission. To provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.



WHAT YOU’LL DO

1. Take appropriate measures to meet client daily basic needs for health and safety including but not limited to the following tasks:


  • a) Prepare and serve meals,

  • b) Conduct safety checks of the units,

  • c) Monitor clients according to the assigned levels of observation,

  • d) Provide transportation as directed by a supervisor,

  • e) Assist in maintaining a clean work environment,

  • f) Assist in maintaining sufficient inventory of food and non-food items, and

  • g) Other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

2. Complete all required electronic and paper charting, documentation and data entry of clients as outlined in the appropriate KMHS guidelines, manuals, policies and procedures.

3. Demonstrate verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in MPAC/CPI training and other agency-mandated training

4. Participate in clinical activities as directed by a supervisor including but not limited to:


  • Facilitate approved group activities

  • Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of client mental status during each shift,

  • Record client nutritional intake, sleep, and vitals,

  • Run treatment groups on shift

  • Take referrals appropriately

  • Follow specific behavioral protocols for clients as directed by a supervisor, and

  • Other clinical activities as directed by a supervisor.

5. Complete all paperwork involved in providing direct client care including but not limited to:


  • Paperwork relating to admission and discharge,

  • Confidentiality,

  • Client rights,

  • Client inventories,

  • Tracking sheets, and

  • Other forms as needed

6. Attend all mandatory training on time and as scheduled.

7. Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food handler’s permit, counselor licenses, etc.).

WHAT YOU’LL BRING


  • High school diploma or GED with six months of relevant work experience.

  • Ability to gain licensure as an Agency Affiliated Counselor (or other applicable counselor professions) in Washington State,

  • Valid Washington State Driver License and Food Handler card.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a counseling-related field is preferred.

  • Must be able to provide client transportation with an agency vehicle.
