Wastewater Maintenance Technician II

A Wastewater Maintenance Technician II at UniFirst operates and maintains the wastewater pre-treatment system and monitors discharged water quality by taking measurements and adjusting chemicals to ensure compliance with our industrial discharge permit requirements.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to aid our maintenance team with repairing, maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment, systems, and components; including but not limited to: large capacity washers and dryers, pneumatic and steam systems, conveyor systems, and boilers.

Training: If you are not currentlyGrade 1 Municipal licenseddon't be discouraged - we want to help you attain that within your first year with us. This means you get to expand your professional skillset, without paying out of pocket! Plus, you will get hands on electrical and mechanical maintenance training while trouble shooting industrial equipment.

Your Day-To-Day at UniFirst:




  • Oversee and ensure the effective operation of the wastewater pre-treatment system for discharging compliant wastewater.


  • Perform water tests and make system adjustments to improve wastewater quality.


  • Record and analyze meter readings and utility logs; identify inconsistencies and take corrective actions where appropriate.


  • Perform safety checks on boilers and make necessary repairs.


  • Follow blueprints, schematics, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to make repairs.


  • Inspect motors and belts, check fluid levels, and replace filters.


  • Perform various welding activities including MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing.


  • Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears.


  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED.


  • Must hold Grade 1 Municipal Wastewater treatment license OR obtain within one year of employment. Certification will be offered through UniFirst.


  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience (or the requirements for Tech II) repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment required. Applicable military experience will be considered.


  • Experience using hand & power tools.


  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and maintenance literature printed in English.


  • Lockout/Tagout experience.


  • Basic Microsoft office skills.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year technical degree.
