Duties, Responsibilities & Other

    Design and preparation of construction drawings for various water/waste water related projects. Projects include: pumping stations, treatment plants, water storage, SCADA systems, and other various facilities related to the treatment of water/waste water.
  • Knowledge includes, but not limited to, single phase power distribution, National Electrical Code, DC power circuits, networking equipment, motor controls.

  • Must have general knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit preferred. Must have good communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Other software skills preferred but not required include any programming language experience.

  • Assist in the development of projects and plans. These duties will be performed under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.

  • Assignments may include interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Helps to coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines, as well as drafting/CADD work for the project. Assists in preparing progress reports and may supervise small projects.

  • Select field instruments to design around for a variety of plant processes. These may include devices to measure level, pressure, temperature, and flow.

  • Design electrical control circuits to interface with process equipment such as mixers, pumps, and blowers. Circuits are based on relay logic and may include multiple motor starting techniques, included but not limited to, across-the-line, Variable Frequency Drives, and Reduced Voltage Soft Starters.

  • Design plant or municipality SCADA systems using various communication methods and network equipment.

  • Any knowledge of PLCs is preferred but not required. Knowledge of basic networking equipment and various communication methods are preferred.

  • Perform work for projects that may include master planning, existing facility evaluations, feasibility studies, design, cost estimating, and similar technical functions.

  • Develop design concepts, and provide technical direction for design of control systems with afocus on efficiency and operator ease-of-use.

  • Prepare reports, plans, and specifications for assigned projects in compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and owner's project requirements.

  • Support development of company instrumentation and controls standards.

  • Coordinate with clients, facility owners, and subconsultants as needed.

  • Maintain a positive work environment. Must be a self-motivated dynamic individual.

  • EIT certification preferred (ability to obtain EIT within two years required)

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degreerequired.Appropriate professional certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 0-2 year's experience.

  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon

Performance Expectations


  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program

  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence

  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures

  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements

  • Complete other duties as required/assigned

  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(80-85% typical)

  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks

  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope

  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required

  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters

  • Compare field data to base plan

  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed

  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval

  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval

  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job

  • Review and approve shop drawings
