Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Sourcing Manager is a leadership position with responsibility for direction and management of the Sourcing Engineers located at the Switching and Fusing Leeds, AL plant. Focus on leading sourcing strategies and projects to meet supply chain and cost improvement goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead daily sourcing support requirements and long term planning of supply chain strategies


• Lead sourcing of major commodity, engineered, and proprietary items for the Business Unit


• Identify new and/or alternate sources of supply


• Analyze proposals and negotiate the best price, service, and delivery terms for purchased products and services


• Perform sophisticated financial and cost analysis for projects and financial justifications


• Develop a project schedule and effectively implement and lead a multitude of projects in varying stages


• Collaborate with our corporate sourcing team on cost savings and resourcing projects


• Work with Product Engineers to develop cost effective product components


• Work closely with manufacturing management to ensure inventory goals are met


• Monitor supplier performance through metrics and communication with purchasing and Supplier Quality Engineer


• Develop pipeline of material cost take out projects


• Keep management updated on progress and obstacles that constrain attainment of company objectives; offer proposals for overcoming said obstacles.


• Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills and Experience

• BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or technical field


• 7+ years of experience in a materials role involving sourcing activities for a manufacturing operation


• Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings


• Proficiency in analytical tools and databases, such as Microsoft (Access, PP, Project, Excel) Power BI & SAP.


• Must possess and exhibit good communication and leadership skills along with a solid understanding of personnel practices including recruitment, professional development initiatives, goal setting, performance improvement planning, and administration of shop rules and regulations.


• Familiarity with Quality systems, processes, and requirements


• Demonstrated negotiation experience


• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills


• High motivation and results-oriented work ethic.
