(we are currently working remote due to COVID, but this position will eventually be based at our Mundelein, IL headquarters).

The Network Engineering Lead is a newly created position and will become an integral member on Medline's Network Core and Telecom Team. This position includes providing technical guidance for network projects and initiatives tying all aspects of the datacenters, DMZ, WAN, campus/branch networks, security, telecom and application delivery supporting Medline's business. The ideal candidate is solution minded with experience in the design, configuration, management and deployment of large enterprise networks. Additionally, this position will provide thought leadership to advance technical capabilities to achieve the highest level of efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Function as technical expert and providing oversight and guidance for Medline's Projects and Initiatives. Understands how to collaborate with peer engineers to drive deliverables.
  • Recognized as a technical Network Subject Matter Expert with the ability to lead experienced Network Engineers providing guidance and mentorship. Review and approve architectural designs.
  • Responsible for the successful delivery of network infrastructure solutions. Ensures that implementation artifacts and deliverables are developed to the highest quality standards.
  • Configures, deploys and maintains networking solutions of Medline's LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDWAN, Cloud and Network Security focused infrastructure.
  • Proactively and methodically improves quality and efficiency through Process, SOPs, and automation of network services.
  • Develops and recommends strategies for network growth, and datacenter network security/enhancements by maximizing functionality of network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and firewalls.
  • Design, build, and implement network systems to support business requirements.
  • Presents new solutions to stakeholders and technical staff, and participates in implementation resulting in a warm handoff to support.
  • Participates in regular meetings and conference calls with customers and IS staff to help qualify opportunities and technical solutions for optimizing the network. Drives design solutions through deployment.
  • Perform a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that encompasses major systems design, integration, and implementation, including hardware, software, budgetary, and support for datacenter, metro-locations and some International locations.
  • Analyzes performance data and metrics, identifies problem areas, and provides actionable insight to problem resolution.
  • Drives issues through closure; engaging all appropriate cross-team resources.
  • Interfaces and communicates with senior and mid-level client leadership that may include technical presentations.
  • Participates in off-hours support rotation of designated network resources.
  • Well informed of information technology and applied research trends; develops and incorporates them into assignments where appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent in training and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience providing operational support for predominately Cisco networking technologies and infrastructures in a large enterprise environment.
  • Has achieved some number of technical certifications; preferably CCDP, CCNP, CCSP, or CCIE.
  • Ability to present to various audience levels to clearly communicate ideas.
  • Excellent comprehension of IP network and routing fundamentals with recent hands-on experience in a Cisco environment with advanced technologies.
  • Understands data center hardware landscape, including overall IT systems landscape (including virtualization)
  • Ability to adapt and multitask to changing business requirements.
  • Experience implementing SDWAN Viptela Solution a plus.
  • SDN experience, especially with Cisco ACI a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP and VRF).
  • Knowledge of network Load balancing technologies, F5 BigIP and LTM a plus.
  • Knowledge of Industry best practices pertaining to infrastructure design and management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.
  • Experience in developing architecture diagrams and work statements.
  • Works well in high pressure situations.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Detail oriented with an analytical mindset.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices a plus.
  • Experience working with offshore resources a plus.
  • Ability to work out of any of our Chicagoland area facilities on any given day.
  • Possibility of up to 5% travel.
