Business Systems Analyst / Senior Business Analyst

Role Summary:


This role can be filled at the Professional level or the Senior level of this role.The Professional Business Systems Analyst (BSA) under general supervision exhibits independence and works with leadership on assigned initiatives, gathers, analyzes, and translates stakeholder needs and requirements into strategic solutions.
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) exhibits independence and plays a leadership role on assigned initiatives, gathers, analyzes, and translates stakeholder needs and requirements into strategic solutions.
Works with Senior, Expert and/or Lead Business Systems Analyst in developing implementation activities and strategizing technology application to current and future business needs. Leverage understanding of business operations with system capability and industry requirements to assist in developing the best innovative solutions for customers.


In this role you will:


Partner with colleagues to understand complex business needs, challenge the status quo by providing options and alternatives to meet customer needs, and translate business needs for scrum team product delivery.


Have the opportunity to synthesize large amounts of detailed, complex and disparate information by creating visual and textual artifacts which engage stakeholders, facilitate understanding and clarify ambiguity.


Professional Level:



  • Gather requirements for moderately complex initiatives using techniques such as brainstorming, interviewing, process modeling, data modeling, document analysis, etc. May assist in complex modelling activities.

  • Create clear and concise requirements with input from subject matter experts and communicate the results back to them for review and confirmation, follow up on action items, accountable for requirements documentation.

  • Identify how success of initiative will be assessed and the supporting performance measure(s), test and assess performance measures for validity and accuracy, identify factors (internal or external) that will limit initiatives success.

  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of data conversion from existing systems to new systems.

  • Investigate operational needs/issues/opportunities, recommend improvements to either business process and/or systems/tools and advocate for changes to company processes.

  • Develop extensive knowledge on key internal applications and may acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for on-going changes.

  • Lead moderately complex projects independently or as part of a larger project team.

  • Provide technical assistance to clients in a professional and accommodating manner.

  • Handle multiple competing initiatives and escalate issues effectively.

You need to have:




  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.



  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent post high school and/or related work experience.


  • Senior Level - 1 or more years of related work experience


We also prefer:




  • Professional Level - 2 or more years of related work experience


  • Senior Level - 5 or more years of related work experience

  • Demonstrated experience in either Enterprise Content Management or Customer Relationship Management

  • Experience in Agile (Scrum, Lean, Kanban) environments.

  • Demonstrated experience in planning requirements gathering and in understanding and documenting business policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated willingness to act while navigating incomplete or unknown information.
    International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Membership.

  • Business Analysis Certifications such as Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA), Certified

  • Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PMI Professional Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), etc.

  • Agile Certifications such as Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO); Professional Scrum Master (PSM), etc.

  • Additional background in 1 or more technology domains such as software testing, software development, business intelligence, data warehousing, etc.

  • Current or previous experience with WPS systems and tools.
