Job Description
The Swimming Pool Specialist takes an increasingly responsible role as an Engineer. They are assigned project level tasks and expected to break these projects down to specific tasks to either perform themselves or delegate to a designer or junior engineer. The Project Engineer must be capable of assembling individual task assignments into complete plan sets and reports. Responsibilities will include managing their own workload and be able to assign tasks to a new Pool Designer, Drafter or Design Engineer, and exhibit the ability to mentor, train, teach and check a Designer's work.
The Project Engineer will generally work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and will generally be assigned projects instead of individual tasks.
Responsibilities may vary from time to time; however, they essentially include:
* Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
* Learning to supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project
* Learning to serve as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
* Participates in contract proposals and administration; periodically observes and reports on project construction
* Learning to manage the design and administration process including scheduling work, coordinating design assignments, preparation of proposals, preparation and production of plans and specifications, review of proposal and construction information requests, project budgeting and invoicing and project related client management.
* Prepares reports outlining opinions, and recommendations for the approval of a Project Manager concerning the production of the project
* Able to prepare a complete set of plans and growing in ability to manage and supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, County and State officials, and other outside agencies.
* May act as technical advisor to design engineers assigned to the project, as determined by the Project Manager
* May be assigned to manage small projects
* Confers with management on all major project decisions such as client contact, design, construction cost, and schedule
* Resolve day-to-day problems, mostly of a technical nature
