Position Description:
This position is responsible for creating, developing, and bringing to production new products, as well as providing engineering solutions and design changes for standard products, and seeking solutions to problems for the product line. Applies expertise and initiative and available resources to ensure that product designs are proper for the application, well-conceived, adequately documented, and sufficiently tested to provide consistent, quality products to our customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop new electromechanical platforms and designs for products, and direct technical teams in the creation of documentation, tests, and production release.

Initiate and apply new engineering technologies and software for design; initiate and provide design support to other groups within engineering; review and validate the impact of suggested modifications to products.

Evaluate and recommend component parts, materials, and processes as related to improved product performance, quality and profitability; provide support for evaluation and selection of capital equipment that meets business requirements.

Apply basic engineering principles and analysis to the resolution of technical problems; perform development, design, and analysis of new products; provide design validation testing for all new products; interpret design results and data; make independent judgments as to their validity.

Support marketing and field sales colleagues by providing and coordinating requests for quotes, application, and design assistance and customer visits; provide customer or in-house training; provide technical data in support of division advertising or brochures.

Position Requirements:
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.) required

7+ years of demonstrated design and development experience in electro-mechanical products. Motor experience highly preferred (ex. BLDC, encoders, gearboxes, commutation options, brakes, bearings, motor insulation systems, winding, etc.)

Demonstrated project management skills which include a drive for results, clear accountability, timely completion, and successful outcomes.

Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D, Infolytica MagNet, MotorSolve BLDC, or similar modeling software desirable.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills required (verbal, written, electronic).

ADDITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Must have a desire for continuous improvement, both within the work and professionally.

Strong sense of organization and project management necessary for success.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
