The College of Arts & Letters at Stevens Institute of Technology has adjunct openings in the Freshman Experience Program for the following course:

CAL 103 – Writing & Communications

Stevens Institute of Technology seeks adjunct instructors to teach multiple sections of CAL 103, our introductory academic writing and communications course for first-year students.  Instructors are responsible for preparing syllabi, holding classes, grading work in an efficient manner, submitting midterm and final grades, maintaining an active Canvas site, participating in unit meetings, and collecting data for assessment.  The structure of the course is set by the College of Arts and Letters and books will be pre-ordered for all adjunct sections, but instructors have some flexibility with regard to topics and themes for discussion.

Under this appointment, responsibilities will include teaching assigned classes, attending all class sessions, maintaining an online course management system, grading and providing appropriate feedback to students, scheduling office hours, completing all assessments requirements, and attending at least three meetings with the program director. Successful candidates will also be required to provide the College of Arts & Letters office with a comprehensive course syllabus before the start of the semester and to adhere to the policies set forth in the CAL faculty handbook.

Qualifications: Candidates should have Masters or ABD in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Comparative Literature, or a related field.
