Due to our growth, we are adding to staff and recruiting for a Senior Property Underwriter, Special Risk to join our team.  This role can be remote or sit in any of our following locations: Farmington Hills, MI; Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA or Memphis, TN.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Markets, evaluates, and prices new, and renewal, large, or complex property opportunities for Amerisure’s property book of business to support the property growth strategy. Collaborates with field underwriting staff as a subject matter expert in underwriting other property line of business opportunities. Helps facilitate property line training to agencies and field underwriting staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and implement business plan to grow and manage Amerisure’s book of large/complex property risks, in support of the casualty line of business; measurable objectives may include written premium, loss ratio, renewal retention, pricing, and coordination of service.


  • Assist and counsel field staff on acceptance and pricing of risks exceeding their defined authority through technical direction and serving as a subject matter expert on large or complex property schedules or occupancies.


  • Work with property line of business lead to serve as a resource to product development and/or regulatory compliance and product management staff in assessment of new forms and potential coverage.


  • Collaborate with field underwriting staff to develop effective marketing and training to agency partners, of all levels, through on-site agency visitation, remote training facilitation, and agency forum events.


  • Lead cross functional teams to identify, design, and implement solutions to resolve issues to better serve our agency partners and prevent future reoccurrence.


  • Serve as a key trainer to support the Developmental Underwriting Program.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • 5 years marketing and underwriting experience in commercial middle market insurance and/or related insurance experience.


  • Senior level property underwriting, preferred


  • Designations such as CIC, CRM, CPCU, ARM preferred.


  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department, across the organization and with external customers.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.


  • Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.


  • Ability to influence and persuade others.


  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
