Summary:

The Senior Knitwear Engineer will leverage their knowledge of existing equipment, processes, programs, materials, and design strategies to enable the production of knit footwear at scale. Will work with innovation, design, and manufacturing to enable execution of defined product/design strategies with given production volumes. Will build out a first-class production system and R&D pipeline to support ongoing knitted product and process development. This position will require hands on technical experience on Stoll knitting machines encompassing knowledge of machine setup, process troubleshooting, knit failure root-cause diagnosis, preventative maintenance measures, and programming capability. As the technical lead, you will develop new processes, tools, and standards to scale up manufacturing and enable continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for creating manufacturing ready Stoll knitting programs and grading such for footwear applications.

  • Drive design for manufacturing review discussions with design, marketing, and engineering to meet product design requirements and quality goals.

  • Responsible for selecting and designing equipment, tools, and processes utilized to execute product design, manufacturing, and quality targets.

  • Responsible for process and program audits to ensure product and program optimization and efficiency targets are met.

  • Develop product / process test procedures as necessary to evaluate and validate new product requirements.

  • Responsible for training / mentoring 2+ knitting technicians

  • Stays abreast of new technology developments and competitive products by continuously reviewing state of industry.

Qualifications


  • MS or equivalent experience in Textiles Science / Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 7 years experience in the design and engineering of knitted, woven, and synthetic fabrics.

  • Experience in setup, adjustment, operation, optimization, and troubleshooting of computerized knitting machines required.

  • Strong understanding of Stoll programming (M1+, CA's, Modules), including knowledge of material properties / knit structure properties and how they relate to manufacturing

  • Demonstrated background in utilizing analytical methods to improve manufacturing processes.

  • High level of knowledge of footwear textile and synthetic materials specifications, applications, and test methods.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
