General Description of the Position:

The Manufacturing Technician will use automated, semi-automated, and/or manual processes within Machining Operations to produce Atlantis custom products from raw material. Products include the Atlantis abutment in titanium and zirconia, Atlantis Suprastructures, crowns, and printed models.

This position is responsible for the operation of equipment such as 3-Axis VMCs, 5-Axis Mill-Turn machines, 3-D printers, benchtop mills, etc. in order to consistently produce components of the highest quality for use in restorative implant dentistry. This position can be tasked with any aspect(s) of the manufacturing process, including but not limited to running machines, secondary operations, in-process and final inspection, manufacturing process control, tool changes, and general maintenance.

The position will adhere with all stated company polices, rules and procedures relating but not limited to Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) which the role has responsibility.

Principal Responsibilities :


  • Comply with all standard SOP and Safety procedures.
  • Manufacture and inspect products using detailed instructions in full compliance to all FDA regulations and ISO & Quality requirements in addition to all internal policies.
  • Run equipment as assigned or as needed according to production schedule.
  • Perform postprocessing as needed, such as deburring, cleaning, curing, firing, etc.
  • Inspect small precision components using microscope, CMM and other metrology equipment.
  • Detect product non-conformances, identify cause, and make necessary adjustments or changes to correct.
  • Interact (extensively) with production software for all aspects of record-keeping, job assignments and material information.
  • Participate in Lean process improvement activities including idea generation, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation. Responsibilities could include leading Lean manufacturing project teams.
  • Maintain the work-center in accordance with established 5S principles.
  • Perform and document basic preventative maintenance on equipment according to schedule.
  • Support validation and NPI activities as required.
  • Develop skills and knowledge required of position through training.
  • Interact with co-workers, employees in other departments, managers, and support engineers as needed.
  • Proactively seek additional tasks as conditions warrant.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager, supervisor, or coordinator (including cross departmental activities)

Education/ Experience :


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating CNC milling equipment independently in a fast-paced production environment. 4-5 Axis and Mill/turn experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, with proficiency in Word and Excel.

Qualifications:


  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to work with small precision parts under a microscope.
  • Able to perform accurate measurements using precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a basic understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
  • Experience performing routine preventative maintenance as well as identifying and performing minor repairs on CNC equipment.
  • Must be methodical and adhere to good documentation practices.
  • Computer literate. Able to use standard computer applications and interact with a computer for data entry and other reasons.
  • Ability to consistently follow company procedures and quality system regulation.
  • Read, write and speak in fluent English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change or unexpected events.
  • Must have a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work unscheduled overtime required, at times.
  • Ability to stand for 4 hrs at a time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
