SUMMARY

 All ICT Development Engineering positions require similar types of activities, but the required level of technical expertise increases with the higher level positions.  The ICT Development Engineer is required to be able to perform low to medium complexity engineering work.  The types of work performed by an ICT Development Engineer include development of test solution proposals, development of test solutions, and test crisis support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Development of test solution proposals:


  • Typically receives project-level direction from the project leader

  • Typically assigned to develop test specifications and test solutions of low to medium complexity

  • Test solution development tasks are done according to budget and schedule commitments from the test solution quotes

  • Test solution proposals typically include, but are not limited to:

  • Preliminary test specification

  • Hardware description

  • Software description

  • Documentation package description

  • Specification of tester validation criteria

  • Specification of support requirements of the proposed test solution

  • Specification of required customer deliverables.

  • The process of developing test solution proposals includes, but is not limited to:

  • Use of  on-line Development Request form and quote tracking tools and systems

  • Adherence to  RFQ responsiveness requirements

  • Use of In-Circuit Test (ICT) quote/SOW templates.

Development of test solutions:


  • Typically assigned to develop test solutions of low to medium complexity. 

  • Test solution development tasks must be done according to budget and schedule commitments submitted in test solution proposals

  • The tasks comprising a test solution development may include, but are not limited to, Design For Test (DFT), design, assembly, debug, validation, deployment, and emergency support of electrical hardware, mechanical hardware, optical hardware, and software.

  •  ICT engineers develop test solutions for several test processes including, but not limited to:

  • Flying probe

  • Boundary scan

  • MDA

  • In-circuit

  • The process of developing test solutions includes, but is not limited to, the use of  tools and systems for:

  • Test development (GenRad GR228x , Keysight 3070, Teradyne TestStation 12x, FabMaster, JTAG etc…)

  • Project tracking

  • Design reviews

  • Documentation package templates (quotes, test plans, test specification, tester validation, etc…)

Test Crisis Support:

  • Special support requests as needed.

Continuous improvement:

  • Participation in the effort to improve  tools and systems.
  • Learning to solve problems outside areas of past proficiency.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS
    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS



    • Understands Manufacturing Test Strategy and demonstrates proficiency in more than one area of test development.

    • Broad knowledge of Test Development areas including structural and functional test, development of Manufacturing Test Specifications and Design For Test Analysis.

    • Extensive amount of hands-on practical knowledge in a test development environment.

    • Strong appreciation and understanding of relevant industry standards and specifications.

    • Demonstrated ability to consistently provide innovative manufacturing test solutions.

    • Recognized ability to write, create presentations, speak, and to effectively represent Test Development to other Jabil groups, external customers, and technology peer groups in the industry.

    • Must maintain up-to-date knowledge in deployable test technologies as a continuous improvement of core competency.


    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



    • Bachelors degree required in an engineering discipline from a college or university related to a technology field

    • Minimum 5 years experience in a test development environment

    • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.


    LANGUAGE SKILLS


    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Read and understand visual aid. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


    Must be able to calculate quantity of parts to be prepped and ready for use at any time. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.


    REASONING ABILITY


    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS


    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual may be required to sit, stand or walk. Reaching, bending, loading, and unloading of boards and reels is mandatory, as is lifting of up to 35 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of microscope and/or magnifying glass.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT


    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Individual’s primary workstation is located on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
