SUMMARY

Perform electrical/electronic engineering work in ideation, planning, documentation, and supplier manufacturing support to execute legacy cost reduction projects and New Product Development launches supporting increased value to customers, product quality and supply chain optimization to meet organizational goals.  Remote Work Available.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

 
  • Experience, ownership, and leadership in:

    • Assuring internal and external customer safety and satisfaction
    • Forefront sourcing representative in all facets of New Product Development (NPD) gate processes
    • Effectively managing multiple technical based sourcing projects supporting NPD launch milestones
    • Focused facilitation of / between NPD team, commodity management and supplier communications, engagement, and actions
    • Utilize independent decision making and industrial experience to make fact-based recommendations for NPD and cost reduction projects affecting; technical requirements, supplier selection, capital investment and supply chain performance issues
    • Council NPD teams on best cost supply chain solutions
    • Value engineering of legacy product programs for material cost containment
    • Managing, monitoring, and improving global supplier milestone progress
    • Challenge costing via design reviews, apply value analysis value engineering (VAVE) techniques
    • Responsible for building supplier material costing data (RFQ)
    • Supporting identification, assessment and approval of global electrical/electronic component and integration suppliers
    • Establishing collaborative partnerships with global electrical/electronic component and integration suppliers for NPD and cost containment programs
    • Leading teams to deliver technical data describing PCBA’s
    • Self-initiates value-based material or ‘system’ projects and project manages them from inception to implementation
    • Component and integration solutions for industrial and professional power tools.   
    • Design and manufacturing knowledge of components / assemblies used in analog and digital measurement equipment for voltage, current and diagnostic applications
    • Design and application knowledge of; LCD’s, membrane keypads, magnetic components; power supplies, inductors, transformers, PCBA cooling methods, current / emerging battery and GaN technologies
    • Knowledge and experience in PCBA assembly processes; Surface / Through Hole Mount Technologies, ESD, stenciling, solder pasting, pick-n-place operations, selective/wave soldering, potting compounds, inprocess / end of line validation, automated optical inspection (AOI), x-ray, stores inventory (end of life) and environmental control
    • Direct experience in quality assurance planning, evaluation, and disposition of electronic materials from component through finished material
    • Developing, executing production part approval strategies (PPAP)
    • Ability to read / interpret multi-level PCBA circuit diagrams, Gerber files, voltage / current traces, analog / digital test data
    • Working knowledge of BOM’s; structure, change management, product life cycle management software
    • Experienced in modifying drawings / technical documents, bill of materials and coordinate with stakeholders to implement changes
    • Manage project based digital content to present sourcing supply chain reviews to peer and senior management groups
    • Has engineering responsibility to ensure successful hand-off from engineering to supply base for production
    • Help organize and lead technical workshops & share best practices for value-based manufacturing processes, materials, design, etc.
    • Brainstorming efforts improving products cost, processes, and procedures, then building a pipeline of cost improvement projects
    • Effectively manage work output in changing business environments balancing conflicting and overlapping priorities from stakeholders
    • 10-15% travel (domestic and international)
    • Represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner in all aspects of position
    • Other duties as directed by supervisory staff or departmental executive

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering.  3 to 5 years’ experience/exposure in one or more of the following areas; printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) design and fabrication best practices, heat transfer/cooling of high power PCBA’s and magnetic based components, electro-mechanical design and manufacturing, polymer part design and manufacture, familiarity of CAD/CAM methods & applications, material selection, inspection/testing/validation techniques

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret ‘Bill of Materials’ (BOM), engineering drawings, Gerber files, engineering change notifications and related technical information.  Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals that are clear, concise and communicative.  Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal-stake holders, customers, and suppliers concerning supply chain business process.

 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Proficient with math skills as achieved in an undergraduate electrical engineering curriculum.  Basic knowledge of accounting processes and operations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
