SUMMARY:


 


The Assistant Manager, Nursing Persistence and Outcomes reports to the Manager, Persistence & Outcomes and is responsible for effectively delivering and maintaining a comprehensive student focused Persistence and Outcomes program. The Assistant Manager will utilize specific tools/resources to collect and analyze data for its tactical utilization, vendor specific resource use and management to ensure quality student learning experiences and promote student success.  The Assistant Manager will focus on the development, implementation, oversight, evaluation, and maintenance of their campus based comprehensive Persistence and Outcomes program, with a goal of maintaining and sustaining 90%+ student persistence and licensure pass rates along with the Manager of Persistence and Outcomes. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives, creates new methods to improve NCLEX performance and proposes developments in curriculum to address NCLEX subject matter and course specific challenges to student persistence. The Assistant Manager supervises and manages their team while continually assessing programmatic competence, mentoring and facilitating faculty while enabling an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.

Along with the Manager of Persistence and Outcomes, the Assistant Manager will:


 


·        Provides oversight and direction to the Persistence and Outcomes team. Coaches, mentors and develops team members, coordinating their onboarding and establishing personal performance objectives for each team member.


·        Leads team members in developing goals, providing feedback and holding them accountable to productivity, quality and accomplishment of goals.


·        Provides leadership in the area of exam integrity and security as well as ensuring that all standardized assessments are safeguarded. Manages any suspected breech of academic integrity by notifying the Campus Dean of Nursing and University Director of Persistence and Outcomes as well as following established protocols for reporting.


·        Participates in the NCLEX meetings to ensure effective tracking and monitoring of NCLEX passing scores.


·        Participates in the EWK Nursing Persistence Meetings to ensure effective management of student persistence throughout the core nursing program.


·        Participates in team meetings to ensure proper communication, collaboration and efficacy within the Persistence and Outcomes Program.


·        Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.


·        Ensures proper and timely documentation of all student interactions including STARS reports, AAPs (Academic Action Plans) and Campus Nexus by all team members.


·        Oversees the process for any NCLEX incentive program for passing exam.  Oversees proper submission to University Administration for compensation.


·        Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.


·        Adheres to University policies and procedures and provides leadership to all staff through guidance and example.


·        Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.


·        Maintains confidentiality of all student, associate, and/or university information as required.


·        Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.


·        Ensures management of all designated reports. Prepares reports to track strategic goals and accomplishments for campus leadership and the University Director of Persistence and Outcomes.


·        Identifies Students at Risk through data tracking platforms and develops interventions to address identified challenges to NCLEX success and persistence.


·        Monitors the metrics used to identify students at risk in GE transitioning to Core Nursing by tracking progress of students in first term of Core Nursing.


·        Participates in evaluation of student progress in courses throughout the program, identifying persistence challenges and developing initiatives to address them.


·        Evaluates EWK student and program assessment data and identifies gaps in content and concept integration. Continually reports these findings and collaboratively develops interventions to address them.


·        Analyzes dashboard and progress toward the path to NCLEX success and evaluates NCLEX tracking tool data to develop strategies to improve NCLEX initiatives.


·        Develops, with the Manager, Persistence & Outcomes policy to individualize the approach for NCLEX preparation and timely scheduling of exam.


·        Assesses the effectiveness of NCLEX preparation strategies and progress in meeting mutually established objectives with students.


·        Evaluates data such as proctored assessments, time in tutorial sessions and pre/post tests on comprehensive predictors to appropriately advise the Campus Dean of Nursing, and Integrations of Nursing Concepts faculty.


·        Fosters a spirit of collaboration among team members, faculty, leadership and other campus departments.


·        Ensures full integration of ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) tools including preparatory courses (Virtual ATI) by identified Students at Risk and graduates for NCLEX Testing.


·        Participates in the evaluation of curriculum to ensure it effectively addresses NCLEX subject matter areas and recommends appropriate change to improve NCLEX performance.


·        As a member of the Nursing Curriculum Committee, NCC, participates in the alignment of didactic, clinical and simulation teaching in the use of NCLEX strategies.


·        Attends all meetings as required to enhance communication and collaboration within the nursing program e.g. faculty meetings, weekly manager’s meetings.


·        Works with Institutional Research to further develop dashboard on predicting NCLEX performance.


·        Participates in the Campus Attrition, Persistence, and Support (CAPS) meetings


·        Works closely with Nursing Program Assistants to ensure they are effectively tracking students at risk for NCLEX failure and oversees appropriate remediation


·        Partners with other Managers of Persistence and Outcomes on the other campuses to ensure University-wide consistency.


·        Attends Program Advisory Committee meetings to network and derive solutions of mutual concerns to community partners.


·        Participates in campus activities such as student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, and new student orientations.


·        Maintains an effective work schedule and staffing productivity related to functional duties of each team member.


·        Ensures that Assistant Manager’s own Personal Performance Objectives are created and met according to established University Student Persistence and NCLEX goals.


·        Ensures that all workshops, bootcamps, and other resources for student success is effective and reflects the academic needs of the nursing program.


·        Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.


·        Remains current in applicable program field, participates in faculty meetings, and conducts instructional seminars and in-service training sessions.


·       Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.


 


 


EDUCATION:


Master degree in nursing from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education or administration required.  Doctorate preferred.


 


 


 


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:


 


Current Registered Nurse License required in state of employment.


 


 


 


 


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


 


A minimum of three years as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care or equivalent and/or education.


 


Strong in knowledge of one or more related disciplines (Pre-licensure Nursing)


 


Leadership knowledge in the program field to cultivate a learner-centered environment and to foster excellence.


 


Knowledge in technological support and delivery of program area and services.


 


Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems to supply the most accurate information, reports and projections.


 


Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), professional nursing accreditors, WASC and other related accreditation standards. 


 


Experience in MS Office
