Summit Truck Bodies, a division of Transwest, is looking for a Maintenance Intern to assist with maintaining the facilities and grounds in Wathena, KS. We are looking for high school students 17 years or older or students currently enrolled in a technical program that are interested in learning more about the manufacturing process. We are looking to add a couple of students to several departments including weld, paint, and general maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with maintaining ground. Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim edge around walks and walls.
Gather and empty trash
Clean, sweep, dust floors, machinery and walls.
Apply paint to various surfaces.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Maintain and wear all required personal protective safety equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Frequent mobility and/or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged/extended periods.
Requires lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery such as a lawn mower, weed eater, hand and power tools.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.
Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.
Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.
Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
Must be 17 years or older attending high school and/or enrolled in a technical program.
Valid Driver's License with an MVR in good standing.
Ability use various power and hand tools.
Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
