Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

The engineering intern will complete data and root cause analysis to create and present an action plan for various plant efficiency and/or capacity improvements. The engineering intern will focus their efforts in a few key areas and assigned various projects that may include, but is not limited to, non-productive time, bagger set speeds vs realized output, predictive vs. preventative matrix technology opportunities to increase Dole Fresh Vegetables' overall equipment effectiveness.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

• 
  

  Gain a basic understanding of the current process flow

  
  


• Complete statistical analysis, including utilization of statistical sampling size for data collection


• Development of needed or updated process flow diagrams


• Successfully design and complete data and root cause analysis


• Develop, recommend, and present action plan(s) and benefits based on analytical results


• Follow all employee safety and food safety policies and practices


• Other duties as assigned

INTERNSHIP TYPE

• 2021 12-week summer internship.


• Paid internship.


• No housing assistance provided.

Required Skills

SKILLS

• Knowledge of Word, Excel and MS-Project


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment


• Understanding and ability to apply basic Mechanical Engineering principles, theories and concepts


• Dynamic, hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food-processing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and work in a cold environment (35* on Plant floor).

WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

• 40-hour workweek, no overtime expected

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

• Fall 2021 Junior or Seniormajoring in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ag Engineering, or Engineering Technology
