Job Description:

Resolute Tissue, a leading manufacturer of tissue products, producing both virgin and recycled grades is seeking a qualified and experienced Converting Mechanic to join our team! This position is ideal for a career-minded individual with the ability to bring technical and leadership skills to the role making you a highly valuable member of the team. 

The company operates a state-of-the-art paper mill near Orlando, Florida where it manufactures tissue parent rolls for resale as well as converts into finished products; namely bath tissue and paper towels, servicing customers in the away-from-home and value retail channels.  


Position Details


  • Primary: The primary purpose of this position, is to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all mechanical and electrical equipment in a paper converting manufacturing facility to ensure production continuity and efficiency.  

  • Secondary: Ensure compliance to established safety rules/policies, and mechanical specifications.  Actively lead and participate in safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.     

 

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Approach all aspects of the work with ‘safety as a value.’ 

  • Wear required safety equipment

  • Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout, confined spaces, etc.

  • Safely troubleshoot, repair, and maintain paper converting equipment, including rewinding capabilities

  • Driving a fork-lift 

  • Comfortable in a manufacturing/industrial environment

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and document accordingly.

  • Perform grade changes; log saw blade changes, perf blade changes.

  • Able to perform general Building and Grounds tasks.

  • Maintains a clean work area.

  • May assist with equipment cleaning, equipment jams, etc.

  • Keeps tools clean and orderly. 

  • Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces with proper training & safety protection)

 

Education & Experience Requirements


  • Two-year Associate Degree in a related field or a registered apprenticeship or similar training 

  • Industry experience preferred; Paper Mill Converting and/or Packaging experience preferred

  • Strong technical skills with at least 2 years’ experience in related area

  • High School Diploma or GED

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


  • Strong interpersonal skills with leadership and strategic thinking skills

  • Ability to develop long and short-term strategic improvement plans

  • Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine, and process drawings

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PLC’s, HMI’s and other electrical components

  • Can manage multiple priorities simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion

  • Ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts, on call, overtime, weekends and holidays

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
