There are significant Digitally enabled Business transformations underway across Kimberly Clark underpinning a top tier CPG growth strategy.

The head of Digital Engineering and Software Development reports to the CTO, responsible for several core Digital Foundational technology, enablers and Centers of Excellence which supports evolution of IT-Engineering discipline.   

The Head of Digital Engineering (Software Development) and Technology will create the strategy and practice for Engineering and support the delivery of programs with multiple Product and Technical Delivery teams.

The Engineering and software development team has a direct responsibility for several technology Centers of Enablement (COEs) & Platforms including Cloud, Automation, Integration, User Experience, DevSecOps and adoption of new technologies like Digital Twins and Quantum Computing. In support of the Centers of Enablement, the leader will concentrate on developing high performing teams that evolve technology practices to optimize and accelerate the delivery of applications.

As a transformational technology leader, this role will also champion Digital Engineering more widely across the DTS team and will have the ability to shape the global strategy and set direction on Digital platforms and engineered solutions providing competitive edge to K-C.  The leader will be an evangelist but should not be afraid to roll-up the sleeves and lead through example on engineering practices implementation and new technology adoptions.  The leader will need to take the organization through a change journey.

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Create & Refine the Strategy of Digital Engineering and Software Development for K-C collaborating across Digital Technology Solutions (DTS/IT), other business functions and Business Units and external partner eco-system

  • Setup and Own Technical Standards on Engineering and Software Development and continuously refine them with evolution of technology and business needs

  • The Head of Digital Engineering will lead a set of very senior architects across multiple functional areas and provide engineering leadership in areas relating to Cloud, Integration and APIs, Microservices, DevSecOps (including test engineering), UX, RPA and Cognitive. This is an enterprise wide role, where the leader sets standards and enforces new technology assimilation:



  • Digital Automation: to conceive, design, build & run Automation capabilities and drive business value thereof. This would include Robotic Process Automation (RPA) as well as Cognitive Automation on core technology platforms including BluePrism, Automation Anywhere as well as Microsoft Azure & AWS


  • Digital Integration: The Head of Digital Engineering leads the Integration architects and developers who set standards and develop re-usable digital assets across the enterprise


  • DevSecOps: The Head of Digital Engineering leads the DevSecOps practice for the enterprise and leads a core team setting technologies, building scalable pipelines, and ensuring right accelerators are built for multiple engineering teams.  Increase test engineering maturity across custom and COTs products


  • UX: The Head of Digital Engineering leads the UX practice for the enterprise and leads a core team that sets UX strategy, reusable assets for product teams and delivery teams


  • Cloud: The Head of Digital Engineering will define standard and support engineering practices for SaaS Applications on Public/Private/Hybrid cloud including cloud security and orchestration

  • Set direction on Tools and technologies including Low code development, open source adoption

  • Drive the culture change and work closely with the product COEs to increase velocity of software development

Key Accountabilities:

  • Heavy Indirect responsibilities and influence role in other areas in partnership with Enterprise Architecture

  • Enable the strategy and realize the vision for Infrastructure as a code and migration to cloud and design for scalability within the cloud with serverless architecture

  • Evolve higher level of maturity and setup of further Centers of Enablement (including those embedded in delivery teams) to ensure best technology support


  • Be the thought leader on Engineering, drive Engineering excellence across working closely with technology leaders.

  • Along with Enterprise Architecture, provide thought leadership on emerging technologies.

  • Performing market and competitive analysis on DTS and Digital tools.  Personally provide technology Leadership & be the evangelist of modern digital technologies

  • Build and foster strong external relationships especially with technology partners and demand suppliers to bring software engineering skills, automation

  • Develop strong relationship with Functional Capability & Delivery teams to support them on use of engineering & technologies and to drive convergence with the COEs.

  • Develop strong relationship with the Business Unit IT leaders to spot opportunities and evangelize the use of Digital technologies.

  • Drive efficiencies in design and build of DTS products by leveraging enterprise scale and appropriate tooling in engineering

  • Lead the digital engineering culture and talent strategy in hiring and retaining best engineering talent.  Be the sponsor for Engineering talent across and a role model and personal evangelist. Along with other teams drive Engineering expertise.  Create community of practices

  • Seek ongoing improvements in the service delivery performance, provide insight into decision-making and report on business outcomes through tracking and measuring KPIs

  • Drive with speed and agility and an entrepreneurial mindset in driving Digital Engineering and Technologies

  • Model company values in personal work behaviors, decision-making, contributions and interpersonal interactions; manage own career development by soliciting feedback and valuing other perspectives.

Key Qualifications and Experiences


  • B.A. or B.S. in Information Technology

  • 10-15 years’ experience in IT with hand-on expertise & experience on design & build on Digital Technologies

  • Experience being part of large-scale digital transformations and with direct technical/engineering contribution to the same

  • Experience leading software engineering teams. Experience of both internal engineering/development teams and vendor partners is preferred

  • Experience with capability/product development, including visioning, road mapping, feature prioritization and go to market strategy

  • Demonstrated skills in application delivery, client relationship management, strong sense of urgency in delivering results, business knowledge, intuition and judgment, Recognized leader in your business domain is preferred

  • Experience managing global teams across cultures and time-zones and working with peers/stakeholders globally will be preferred. High cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, strong communication/collaboration is necessary in this role

  • Acumen to manage cost effective delivery with trade-offs and to manage project & operations budgets

  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration at all levels

  • Experience as a change agent and evangelist at senior levels of the organization

  • (Standard) Verbal and written fluency in English is mandatory
