PRS Portfolio Underwriter

The Recreational Marine Insurance Department is accepting applications to fill an Underwriting position with a National U.S. Territory. The primary focus of the position will be Recreational Marine, Boats and Yachts with a wide variety of customer types. The Underwriter will be responsible for driving financial performance and assisting the team in reaching their overall goals.
Key Responsibilities Include:
-Meet or exceed financial goals including rate, growth, profit, retention, and new business
- Analyze and process all aspects of new business, renewals cancellations and endorsements, within authority;
- Identify and target profitable new business opportunities;
- Create and foster producer relationships;
- Use appropriate written and verbal communication to effectively respond to internal and external customers;
- Travel within assigned territory
- Implements underwriting objectives by reviewing, evaluating, and pricing new business;
- Maintain acceptable loss ratio
- Initiate and participate in all activities necessary to best serve customer and team needs;
- Participate in team projects and perform other duties, as required;
-Meet or exceed service standards
-Work collaboratively and effectively with a team of underwriters, underwriting associates, customer service representatives, claims examiners, and loss control representatives
Competencies:
- Good knowledge of insurance principles and procedures;
- Strong knowledge of Recreational Marine underwriting criteria, forms and rating procedures;
- Strong knowledge of agency management
- Excellent organizational and communication skills;
- Strong customer service orientation;
- Excellent sales/marketing and negotiating skills;
- Ability to operate and contribute positively in a team-based environment;
- Ability to set work priorities;
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Desired 2-5 years Recreational Marine insurance experience;
- Strong working knowledge of computer use, including but not limited to: ORCA, Yacht/Boat systems, Microsoft Office, Internet, etc.
