Position Overview

The Technician I, Maintenance is accountable to repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to established safety, predictive and productive maintenance procedures to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on plant equipment, building interior and exterior.


• Maintain computerized preventative maintenance system


• Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of all safety policies and standards related to position.  Work in a safe manner and recognizes unsafe situations, take appropriate action to ensure safety of self and others in building.


• Assist with plant activities as required

• Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process


• Works within clearly defined standard operations procedures and or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines


• Works with close supervision

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required


• 0-2 years' relevant experience required

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently and occasionally 100 lbs.


• Must be able to work in high places and in confined spaces.


• Must have previous operations experience.


• Frequent exposure to fumes, cold, heat, dirt, dust and noise. 


• Must be able to work various shifts as well as swing shifts during peak harvest seasons.


• Must be flexible to working daily overtime and weekends as needed.


• Safe operation of mobile equipment such as bobcat, forklift, payloader and locomotive.


• Perform operations role as needed.


• Identify and prioritize equipment needs to minimize equipment downtime.


• Complete basic electrical training and troubleshooting classes to gain a basic understanding of electrical principles.


• Participate in all aspects of rail loading including lid closer, locomotive operator, loader and blender.


• Strong expectations of adhering to, living, and breathing the safety culture of the company/facility.
