Connected Equipment Manager - Precision Farming at Birkey's Farm Store, Inc. in Champaign, Illinois

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide training and sales support to Birkey’s employees regarding the use and implementation of telematics, data transfer, fleet management, and remote diagnostics on connected vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. Other duties may be assigned from time to time:


  1. Manage overall AFS Connect life cycle from start to finish to ensure equipment is assigned to correct customer and location.

  2. Work with store locations to ensure customers have completed necessary steps for enrollment completion.

  3. Setup location accounts to ensure notifications are sent to the appropriate employees.

  4. Document, implement, and follow complete internal process of AFS Connect setup.

  5. Provide ongoing precision farming support and training to employees. 

  6. Generate unlocks and define unlock process as well as communicate unlock sales to appropriate parts departments.

  7. Provide resources and grant access to needed tools to onboarding Precision Farming Specialists.

  8. Schedule training of appropriate company personnel for AFS certification.

  9. Maintain and support the AFS certification process for location precision farming, sales and service employees.

  10. Communicate weekly updates of AFS Connect projects in Monday morning Precision Farming Teams meetings.

  11. Provide weekly progress report to Director of Parts and Service.

  12. Drive development and implementation of monthly internal Precision Farming Training.

  13. Coordinate ongoing customer facing Precision Farming training aids.

  14. Manage the daily creation and invoicing of Precision Farming work orders.

  15. Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to company safety program at all times.

  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: Individual should have a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.  Should be able to set work priorities and work independently in the absence of supervision and be able to understand and carryout oral and written directions. Must have the ability to maintain high degree of motivation in team members to retain focus of providing highest level of customer satisfaction.

The individual should have 5 years of related experience, steady work record, and must be able to perform each of the essential position functions.

  • Ability to get to and around the corporate office and store locations for various tasks.

  • The employee would normally lift or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to tolerate up and down movement with bending or stooping including reaching above and below shoulder height with arms and hands.

  • Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to operate equipment or other power equipment as necessary.

  • Must meet health assessment requirements.
