Job Description:

Arcadis seeks a resilience Planner / Engineer, to join our Water Management, Urban and Coastal Resiliency Team in Long Island City, NY.

With the support of one of the industry's leading technical and professional staffs, you will support a growing base of projects throughout the northeastern market with private, federal, state, and local government clients related to hazard mitigation and resilience planning, policy, project development, feasibility studies, engineering design, as well as project funding and implementation. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual looking for career growth. This position will offer you an excellent opportunity to learn and grow professionally while working on a wide variety of projects alongside dedicated and experienced professionals.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Planning and technical support for an existing and expanding client base in relation to coastal protection, stormwater management, groundwater, benefit cost analysis, environmental and social impact analysis, and other resilience needs

  • Project and task support, including collaborating with an integrated team of multi-disciplinary planners, engineers, and other disciplines

  • Ability to meeting project schedules, task budgets and quality objectives

  • Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, as well as providing technical expertise and experience on other related projects

  • Permitting and policy reviews

  • Assisting with the identification and description of cost effective, technically feasible, and environmentally sound resilience actions

  • Participate in client and project development, track opportunities, identify client needs, and assist with proposals and marketing materials

  • Ambassador for the local and national team, including representing Arcadis at conferences and other industry related events

  • Mentor and be mentored, vertically and horizontally, to ensure shared knowledge and growth across the team

  • Fa miliarity/ Experience with

- ArcGIS, GIS map creation, geodatabase design, and feature/attribute editing
- CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Revit
- Programming experience (R, python)
- Numerical modeling of flows in coastal, estuarine or riverine environments highly useful

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Urban Planning, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or a related field of study


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Understanding of ArcGIS and basic skills in GIS map creation, geodatabase design, and feature/attribute editing


  • Experience with CAD, Revit, R, python


  • P revious experience with numerical modeling of flows in coastal, estuarine or riverine environments highly useful
