Heavy Equipment Operator at Arcosa Inc in Houston, Texas

Job Description:

Job duties are performed under sporadic supervision and include the following:

•  Operates construction equipment such as excavator, loader, skid steer, dozer and backhoe.


•  Fuels and inspects equipment named above.


•  Changes attachments on loaders, skid steer and backhoe, and hand tools as needed for proper use and operation.


•  Uses hand tools such as air saw, jack hammer, cut off saw, sledge hammer, wheel barrel, shovels, torch, and others as needed to accomplish tasks in demolition of industrial plants and equipment.


• Maintains housekeeping of work site including trash pickup, keeping tools in order; proper storage of equipment at end of shift.


• Performs/ensures proper maintenance of jobsite equipment.  Reports any equipment malfunctions immediately.


• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Physical Requirements:

• Work in high temperature settings


• Able to sit for long periods while working, up to 16 hours per day


• Lift and carry 75 lbs. on a regular basis


• Able to stoop, kneel and crawl in awkward positions


• Exposure to loud noise, machinery, chemicals, fumes, odors, etc.


• Required to wear safety equipment including Nomex coveralls, hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, steel toed boots, hearing protectors, respirator, gloves and various other similar items as required.
