JOB OVERVIEW:




Assists in implementing business and marketing plans developed by the Product Category Manager. Support PCM in maintaining less complex supplier partner relationships and may support less complex product categories or sub-major categories as directed by the Product Category Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to new item review and set up, item information maintenance and new supplier set-ups as well as direct advertising development and placement. Responsible to ensure timely and accurate response to internal/external customer inquiries.




KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • CATEGORY MANAGEMENT: Coordinate with Manager, with direction, regarding all activities surrounding performance of the categories for which they are responsible. May include: sales and market share analysis, identifying underperforming categories, coordinating plans and programs to drive sales and market share in both branded and private brand products. May support in development of private brand product additions and line extensions. Coordinate new vendor set up, new item set up and all item maintenance including item description clean-up, entering item substitutions or item alternate when needed, cross references, and assisting with quarterly freight factor projects.

  • NEW PRODUCT ACTIVITIES: In collaboration with the PCM, determines which products will be accepted and/or rejected. Supports the process of all new product submissions. Ensures all necessary information is obtained from the supplier to facilitate a timely review. Supports pricing, forecast and opening order quantities. Executes process of new item code creation, web attributes and descriptions and development of catalog copy. Works closely with suppliers and PCM to support the development of a promotional plan for a successful launch.

  • CURRENT PRODUCT LINE MANAGEMENT: In collaboration and with direction from the PCM, determine products and pricing to be featured in all flyers for respective product categories. May produce layout and pricing spreadsheets. Supports buying deals with suppliers and executes proper communication and implementation to Inventory Management. Supporting functions related to performance rebates, product promotions, contract pricing, and item restriction. Performs review of marketing product classifications and item descriptions to ensure the integrity of product content. Accountable for A-system and/or ecommerce classifications, item descriptions and images to ensure the integrity of product content. Under direction, reviews and approves products identified by SKU Optimization for stocking, non-stocking and inventory returns. Review, analyze, and appropriately communicate price change notifications. In collaboration with PCM, may perform competitive pricing analysis and determines selling prices of all products in the respective categories

  • CHANNEL MARKETING: Manages layout and presentation for respective categories in all channel media and marketing platforms within established deadlines.

  • OTHER: Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.




KNOWLEDGE:




Intermediate level professional; developing knowledge within own discipline. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity required to perform tasks. Frequently apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field. Apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.




COMPLEXITY:




Work on problems of limited to moderate scope and impact where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures to solve straightforward problems. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practice to determine appropriate action. Build productive internal/external working relationships.




SUPERVISION:




Receive a moderate level of instruction on day-to-day work and detailed instruction and guidance on new projects or assignments.

Qualifications

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:




Typically 2 to 4 years of related professional experience.




PREFERRED EDUCATION:




Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:





  • A-system and ecommerce platform knowledge preferred.

  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must have good analytical skills and must have good communication skills.

  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a team environment.




PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:




Typically, to advance to a new job level, TSMs must demonstrate professional behavior and should consistently be at the high-end of meets expectations or consistently exceed expectations.




TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:




Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
