Job Description



Develop and specify engineering solutions for equipment applications and associated technologies to meet customer requirements. Provide technical sales and tendering support for the regional sales team. Supports sales and regional engineering teams with troubleshooting by investigating problems related to product performance and application specific criteria.







Duties & Responsibilities



The Product Application Engineer/ Sales Coordinator is responsible for:



  • Provide technical sales and tendering support for regional Sales team

  • Management of customer purchase orders for engineered products for seal, power transmission, systems, and other products as applicable

  • Control & manage the Order book for specific territories for Engineered Products demand delivering:

    • On-time delivery

    • past-due reduction

    • Lead-time reduction



  • Maintain and improve delivery performance to request and promise through responsive in-house processing times for both Sales & Service activities

  • Support Sales team by creating or coordinating quotations with other groups, making product recommendations, and working closely with seal, PT and systems drawing offices to keep new orders moving forward

  • Able to drive change though process improvement enabling an "easy to do business with" environment

  • Develop long term working relationships within and outside of the company to satisfy customer requirements whilst meeting those targets set out by the company

  • Review and evaluate client enquiries complete with any accompanying equipment data sheets and technical specifications

  • Use company tools and procedures in order to establish the necessary product selection complete with appropriate costing and pricing

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals for customers

  • Provide technical and commercial support to external sales personnel to achieve successful order award

  • Review client Purchase Orders and prepare necessary handover materials for customer service including part number, drawing, and specific certification requirements

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, internal suppliers and external suppliers

  • Good people management skills will be required as the role will require close working with other departments although there are no reporting lines to these departments

  • Expedite internal and external suppliers as well as the customer for information required for timely completion of each enquiry

  • Timely completion of proposals - The Application Engineer must aim to complete a proposal within the customer required lead time

  • Timely and accurate completion of order handover as dictated by complexity of product

  • Able to drive change though process improvement enabling an "easy to do business with" environment

  • Assists sales team with customer training for maintenance and operations personnel as required.

  • Coordinate with key order stakeholders to ensure only clean orders are processed and reviewed pre and post design

  • Managing the completion of key processes within the order through iProjects

  • Provide technical support and advice to sales team during proposals preparation, order processing, and design review

  • Adhere to the quality requirements of the client

  • Monitor and Improve feedback from clients to improve performance.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary, or as required by management.


Reporting lines and interactions: Hierarchically reports to: Regional Engineer Key interactions (internally, externally): Branch manager, Production managers at PT and Systems locations, Local sales reps, Projects and Central Support Teams, Design offices, Customer Service, Buyers/Planners, Assembly, Shipping, District Sales Managers, External Clients

  • Understanding of technical, quality, commercial and contractual documents

  • Time and resource management skills

  • Previous experience with an ERP system

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to motivate and influence staff

  • Experience building relationships with clients

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • MS Office Proficient/Behavioral Competencies

  • Builds effective relationships at all levels both internally and externally to deliver results

  • Communicates creatively and effectively

  • Exhibits critical attention to detail while presenting quality deliverables

  • Maintains confidentiality

  • Engineering degree preferred
