About this role:

Gartner is looking for a well-rounded software engineer to join our effort to modernize our core financial systems. The candidate will be responsible for working with business partners to understand requirements, then designing and building integrations and add-ons to Gartner's core financial platform (currently Oracle EBS). The ideal candidate will be someone who has worked closely with accounting professionals and has played an impactful individual contributor role in implementing and enhancing accounting and other back-office solutions. Candidate should have demonstrable experience innovating with technology to meet business needs.

What you'll do:

• Design, Develop, Test, Implement and Maintain critical financial integrations, extensions, and add-ons to empower Gartner's continued growth.
  
  


• Provide daily operational support for production systems including providing on-call support
  
  


• Work with business and technical teams to exceed internal customer expectations.
  
  


• Ensure system implementations meet the highest quality, security, and compliance standards
  
  


• Utilize best practices, standard procedures, and techniques to develop and configure applications.
  
  


• Maintain a positive and productive working relationship with internal customers and peers.
  
  


• Write and maintain clear documentation that describes installation and operating procedures.
  
  


• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the programming languages and tools relevant to our systems.
  
  


• Conduct SDLC activities compliant with standard industry methods such as agile and waterfall, as well as the fundamentals of requirement specifications, design, coding and testing of business applications systems.
  
  


• Analyze and interpret business requirements to define and develop technical requirements/specifications.
  
  


• Participate in technical design, contributing insights and ideas
  
  


• Successfully troubleshoot application problems independently or in a team setting.
  
  


• Comply with relevant corporate standards and policies
  
  


• Collaborate directly with offshore team members.
  
  


• Learn and navigate the structure and basic processes of the IT organization, including the roles of IT colleagues and the information and/or resources needed to achieve business goals.
  
  

What you'll need:

• Typical candidates will possess 4+ years of relevant experience and BS in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience
  
  


• Has 2+ years Financial Systems (accounting packages/ERPs & related back-office applications) technology and functional experience.
  
  


• Demonstrated recent and relevant writing software with a modern programming language such as Python, or Java.
  
  


• Demonstrated experience developing SQL queries against a modern DBMS platform (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Microsoft SQL)
  
  

Exceptionally qualified candidates may also possess:

• An understanding of core business accounting principles, practices, and terminology (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, etc.)
  
  


• Experience with application development methods utilizing AWS cloud technologies.
  
  


• Experience with PERL and shell scripting in Linux / Unix platform.
