The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Supports assigned production teams in achieving daily safety, quality and production goals.

  • Drives operational excellence through lean principles, tier reviews and continuous improvement.

  • Champions projects on safety, quality, efficiency and cost improvements. Leads projects to develop and improve capital equipment and new technologies.

  • Proactively communicates with all levels of the organization to direct and drive positive change. Establishes a network of support (operators, operations, supply chain, laboratory, quality, marketing, etc.) to facilitate completion of assignments.

  • The Red Wing operations run multiple shifts. The position is primarily a day shift role, but some off-shift coverage and willingness to be on call may be required.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) years manufacturing and/or engineering experience in a public, private, military or government environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills; practical and hands-on, with analytical comprehension and data driven decision making

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization from the front line to senior leadership

  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and able to drive multiple projects

  • Experience in developing and managing capital and general improvement projects and driving project completion on time and within budget

  • Experience with CAD software and ability to design production fixtures, jigs and tooling

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
