The Systems Administration Manager is accountable to the Director, IT Infrastructure for:
Establishment and execution of strategy and vision for the Global Systems Administration team
Management of internal Global Systems Administration staff
Management of team priorities and delivery of Global Systems Administration projects
Maintenance and continual improvement of operational standards (performance)
Exceeding customer expectations
Coordination with Global Systems Administration vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Works closely with the Directors of Infrastructure and Security, as well as with the Data Center Operations Manager and Network Manager to ensure infrastructure solution, process, and approach consistency.
Provides functional leadership and management to the Global Systems Administration staff. Including day-to-day management, annual reviews, and other aspects of leadership.
Oversight and management of a Global Systems Administration equipment.
Manage projects and priorities for the Global Systems Administration team, by
Ensuring each project is aligned with Garmin business priorities
Ensuring each project is well defined and has plans for success
Collaborating with local and global stakeholders in the design of Systems Administration solutions to meet business challenges and requirements
Acts as an advocate for the customer to the Global Systems Administration team. Ensures that the Systems Administration team understands appropriate criticality of solution and situations. Helps prioritize items to ensure appropriate order of execution.
Organizes team to deliver and assist on numerous requests as required including but not limited to: Linux server solutions, Logging, Puppet deployments, Disaster Recovery, Load Balancers, Storage, Monitoring and maintenance, and other special troubleshooting or implementation projects as assigned
Strengthens key Global partnerships with server and platform technology, hardware, software, and service vendors
Researches new technologies that deliver business value and operational return
Analyzes complex business needs, and recommend and facilitate implementation of server and platform enhancements or upgrades to performance and reliability of IT solutions
Delivers cost effective solutions through detailed analysis to determine the Total Cost of Ownership
Evolves standards and procedures that enable the design, build, research, analyze, configure, harden, troubleshoot and maintenance of supported systems
Improves service and project execution standards and assure staff preparedness and capability through coaching, mentoring and direct leadership
Acts as a representative for IT at customer review meetings when appropriate
Analyzes existing server and platform infrastructure and recommend changes to Director
Assists Director in departmental budgeting

Assist in the ongoing development of continuous improvement initiatives within Garmin’s IT group utilizing Agile Principles, Project Management Methodologies & Practices and Quality and Process improvements.
Conduct annual performance evaluations
Accept and complete projects and other miscellaneous IT duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
7+ years Global systems management experience in a heterogeneous environment
Strategic leader defining roadmap, policy and process for global network teams
Proven track record of project delivery including the coordination and management of projects in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Knowledge of analysis, design and configuration of complex systems.
Demonstrated experience successfully coordinating teams and multiple projects in a matrix environment 24x7 enviornment.
Experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and asset management
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in a multi-location, global environment is preferred.
Previous experience as a Systems Administrator is preferred.
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) or other regulatory issues.
Certification in a nationally accredited project management discipline (i.e., PMI, PMP, Six Sigma, Unified Rational, etc.) is preferred.
