Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator and in support of senior laboratory personnel, the Lab Assistant in the Elrod Lab completes various procedures and tasks in an accurate and timely manner. The Lab Assistant performs simple and routing, generally non-technical laboratory/research-related tasks. The Lab Assistant also manages the mouse colony and may work on an individual project.
Responsibilities include: maintaining mouse colony breeding schedules along with subsequent genotyping; Western blotting, histology and cell culture as projects dictate; maintaining lab bench area; cleaning and sterilizingglassware; maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment; running errands for the laboratory. The Lab Assistant may also be assigned to an individual project depending on competencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience: At least one year of laboratory experience or a Bachelor's Degree in a related filed. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
