The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Manager Global R&D - Software, Mobile, Data & Cloud Platforms, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Leading Global R&D Software, Mobile, Data & Cloud Platform function to develop new and innovative capabilities and products for Personal Safety Division.  Contribute as a key member of the Connected Safety R&D Lab leadership team.


• Providing people leadership, hiring, mentoring, and strategic direction for direct teams, internal 3M labs (CRL, Portfolio BU), strategic partners, and contractors across multiple locations for 70+ resources.


• Building, sharping, and advancing the technical organization with latest skill sets, and capabilities for connected solutions and ecosystems.  Enabling a cohesive architecture across IoT, software, mobile, data, AI/machine learning, and cloud domains.


• Accelerating and scaling both product development lifecycle and technology platforms to maintain the speed of business and changing technology landscape.


• Working closely with the business sales, marketing and support leaders to build strategic and operational plans.


• Driving product/technology development and roadmaps, 3rd party collaborations, intellectual property, general operations, facilities/infrastructure, resource planning, organizational development.


• Assist in maintaining and meeting R&D budget and spending goals.


• Contributing to the overall global health of the organization as a leadership member of the Connected Safety R&D Lab.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Two (2) years experience managing/leading cross functional teams to research, develop and architect software, data, cloud products and platforms in an enterprise scale environment.


• Three (3) years experience in full agile and software development lifecycles, implementation in the cloud.


• Three (3) years of technical leadership experience, that includes technical / R&D management in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master’s degree or higher in the areas of Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical), Materials, Sensors or related discipline


• Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills


• Demonstrated understanding and experience with software development lifecycle, cloud, AI/machine learning, and data architectures.


• Experience developing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and/or safety solutions for the safety industry


• Understanding of intellectual property and awareness of the global technology landscape


• Experience with electronics/software safety and regulatory environment (UL, intrinsic safety, e-waste, etc.)


• Awareness of data privacy/security regulations and architectures for compliance and system security

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
