Role Overview

The candidate will oversee business consulting/decision support activities within the Emerging Markets finance team reporting to the Regional CFO, and the individual in this role will be expected to:


  • Provide valuable performance analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders, ensuring key business performance risks, issues, and opportunities are highlighted to management.


  • Play a lead role in the financial evaluation and diligence of inorganic opportunities across the region, including extensive financial modeling on potential targets and lead post-implementation financial reviews of initiatives.


  • Support the CFO and Regional President in a variety of other strategic and ad-hoc capacities.  


  • Interact with regional, country, and financial management stakeholders to understand and communicate strategic initiatives and key financial risks, including emerging regulatory considerations.


As the finance lead responsible for business consulting and decision support across the region, this individual will partner closely with each of the countries CFOs and their teams to produce robust business plans on key growth initiatives, as well as in-depth financial evaluation of existing and emerging risks. 

The individual in this role should be intimately familiar with Prudential’s growth strategy and should possess advanced analytical, communication and presentation skills, including experience working in Emerging Markets across insurance and pension industries. The candidate must exhibit thought leadership and a creative mindset in working with most difficult and ambiguous problems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead the financial diligence and assessment of potential acquisition opportunities across the region, including working closely with PII Business and Corporate Development teams.



    • Extensive financial modeling of pro-forma scenarios of potential acquisitions, including cashflow and return analysis.


    • Support implementation of capital allocation framework for potential acquisitions.


    • Executive presentation and communication of strategic opportunities to senior management.




  • Develop a portfolio financial risk assessment across the region including scenario modeling on emerging regulatory risks.  Partner closely with in-country leaders and US stakeholders.


  • Serve as business client functional expert on current investment and growth opportunities in Africa, Mexico, and China – including but not limited to organic growth initiatives, capital management, financial risks, and communication of key financial performance.


  • Lead operating agenda for bi-weekly forums across financial management driving effective coordination and resolution of key issues across the region.  Forum includes participation from Actuarial, CIO, Treasurers, Enterprise Risk, Tax and Controllership.


  • Ensure alignment between initiatives and financial planning for the region, including creating a framework for measuring and monitoring, and discontinuing underperforming projects.


  • Lead the talent and development of one associate and support team development and engagement.


Qualifications


  • 7-10 years of overall work experience.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics; MBA strongly preferred.


  • Experience in management consulting, including ability to create best in class executive presentations.


  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Cantonese a significant plus.


  • Three or more years of transaction-related experience, including M&A transactions – prior investment banking experience a plus.


  • Prior experience working in multi-national projects in Latin America, Emerging Asia, or Africa.


  • Insurance and Retirement industry knowledge.


  • Demonstrated leadership in managing, motivating, and empowering a Finance function and team.


  • Ability to work in ambiguity and reduce complexity.


  • Proven analytical capabilities, including the ability to develop deep insights and deliver resulting messages to leaders to inform decisions.


  • Proficiency in project management, prioritization, and time management / ability to meet deadlines.


  • Ability to scrutinize requests and challenge appropriately.


  • Experience working across various financial management functions.
