Applied Research Associates, Inc. has an outstanding Research Internship opportunity for a full‐time student who is currently enrolled in a PhD program in human systems integration (HSI) (or related field) and wants to gain related work experience. The qualified intern will support and conduct projects requiring interdisciplinary human subjects research methods including data collection, qualitative analysis, and statistics. This includes but is not limited to development and application of models and concepts that help to illuminate technical issues, and solution approach suggestions using human subject research methods including Cognitive Task Analysis, qualitative data thematic analysis, quantitative data analysis, and probability and statistics.

Required Qualifications:


  • An analytic mindset, with strong problem‐solving abilities

  • Eagerness to learn new tools and techniques

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Familiarity with hardware/software tools commensurate with academic level

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have current Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certificate 

Required Experience:


  • Must be a currently enrolled, full‐time student in a graduate degree program at an accredited university

  • Should have working familiarity with human subjects research methods
