Power Specialist - Lighting at Mcnaughton McKay in Madison Heights, Michigan

General Summary: 





Act as the primary representative of McNaughton-McKay to promote the sale of Power Distribution products to electrical contractors, industrial & institutional accounts at profit margins that meet the Construction Group’s sales goals.





Key Responsibilities: 





1.Processes customer and vendor orders, changes and cancellations as received via phone call, fax, email, or mail including:





•Reconciling McNaughton-McKay quotations with customer purchase orders.





•Setting up and managing order and quotation files.





•Developing and maintaining drawings and shipping schedules for equipment on projects and coordinates the shipping requirements with purchasing, warehouse operations, customers and account managers.





•Following-up on open orders to ensure quoted ship dates are met.





•Assisting in closing out projects to assure accounts receivable and payable issues are mitigated.





2.Responds to customer quotation requests by providing the following:





•Obtains quotes and bills of material from suppliers for incorporation into an equipment proposal. Prepares material quotes for Power Distribution products as required.





•Develops bills of material for equipment from plans and specifications.





•Prices equipment utilizing vendor supplied software programs, the NxTrend business system, spreadsheet, and vendor or customer quotation forms in accordance with company guidelines.





•Utilizes and updates the “Project Bid Log” for project quotes (e.g.; status of project, bid date, bidders, general contractors, project value, bid winner, and reason for loss, etc.)





3.Provides application and sales support of Power Distribution and Power Quality products distributed by McNaughton-McKay Electric Company.





4.Assists sales management in coordinating new product launches and training for customers and McNaughton-McKay personnel.





5.Acts as the first point of contact between McNaughton-McKay and Power vendors on marketing and product/application issues.





6.Assists Sales Management in developing a yearly business plan that includes identifying products, key accounts, new markets, account strategy and stocking requirements





7.Attends manufacturer’s training, as required to maintain technical proficiency.





8.Reviews and recommends improvements in job procedures and work instructions and adheres to same.





9.Coordinates project bidding strategy with the Lighting Department Supervisor to leverage additional sales when applicable.





10.Coordinates the quotation of Power Distribution projects and assist with the selection of products.





Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 





1.At least 2 years of experience in Electrical Distribution Sales or field experience working as an electrician or for a construction engineering firm. Additional sales or field experience (five or more years) will be considered in lieu of meeting the degree requirement.





2.Bachelor’s degree required in business, sales, marketing or a technical field.





3.Advanced sales skills including proven communication (both verbal and written) and consultative selling skills.





4.Ability to determine customer needs and to follow through on commitments.





5.Work history demonstrating self-motivation, self-management, multi-tasking and strong organizational skills





6.Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
