Job Description:

Position Summary:  Be EPIC and help Empower People In Communities! 

Glade Run’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation program, EPIC, assists adults who struggle with serious, persistent mental health diagnoses develop the necessary skills to overcome the functional impairments they experience as a result of their mental health. EPIC provides services in both Beaver and Butler Counties.  

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) Worker is responsible for a caseload of persons with long-term psychiatric disabilities and will work to increase their functioning level so they can be successful and satisfied in their environments of choice while living, learning, working and socializing.  Responsibilities include maintaining an individual caseload of consumers and completing daily progress documentation, assessment, and identification of goal plans to assist members in reaching their goals of choice. Services may be provided via site based group or individually (mobile) in the consumer's community and/or home environments. Since services may be provided individually in the consumers community and/or home environment, travel is required to these locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) Worker shall have one of the following:

1. Bachelor’s degree with current Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP)
Certification preferred;

2. Bachelor's degree; OR

3. An associate's degree and one (1) year work experience in mental health direct service; OR

4. A Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certificate and one (1) additional year paid or volunteer work experience in mental health direct service; OR

5. A high school diploma or GED and two (2) years’ work experience in human services which must include one (1) year of mental health direct service.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation staff will meet the staff development (training) criteria outlined in Pennsylvania regulations for Psychiatric rehabilitation Chapter 5230.

Newly hired Staff will receive six hours of face-to-face mentoring prior to staff delivering services independently. Mentoring shall be provided by a PRS director or psychiatric rehabilitation specialist designated as a supervisor and is required within the first year of employment.

Six hours of training in the specific PRS model or interventions being used prior to a new staff working independently and is required within the first year of employment

All degrees and coursework must be from an accredited program and/or university or college in accordance with Policy Clarification 02-11 dated June 9, 2010, and be conferred by the university or college.

Physical Requirements:
1. Must have audio/visual/verbal capabilities to provide supervision for the clients and to perform essential job functions.

Emotional Requirements:
1. Must have emotional stability to perform essential job functions.

Other Requirements:
1. Knowledge and/or experience with individuals diagnosed with serious and persistent mental health diagnosis.
2. Ability to work as a team member.
3. Ability to accept supervision.
4. Ability to adjust hours to job requirements.
5. Ability to work independently.
6. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
7. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
8. Ability to drive for work purposes including to client homes and to job site.
9. Ability to identify with the agency’s Mission Statement and support the agency’s Core Values.
10. Must be eligible for PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, and FBI clearance.

CORE COMPETENCIES:


  • Implement the daily schedule of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services program.

  • Conduct individual assessments and assist the individual with their recovery plan.

  • Provide group curriculum (Mobile) that will help individuals learn to become active in the community, gaining independence in use of public transportation, budgeting and shopping, and accessing social, spiritual and recreational outlets.

  • Instruct/coach and support individuals utilizing interventions and skills that support the individual client’s recovery plan.

  • Complete daily documentation of individual progress and curriculum/skills used in programming.

  • Build relationships and communicate with Butler County Human Services providers and other community referral sources.

  • Provide Supervisor with up-to-date information regarding on-going programmatic, quality, authorization and compliance issues

  • Participate in program development and required in-service trainings and workshops as requested.

  • May be required to perform services in clients’ homes after required training and orientation is met.
