What you'll do

As aSoftware Development Engineer in Test (SDET)on the Analytics Dev/Ops team in the R&D division at SAS, you will triage and support issues occurringateverylayerof thesoftware developmentlife cycle.You will empower the Analytics teamstocontinuously deliverenterprise gradesoftware toproductionbyensuring problems are quickly identified during the continuous deliverypipeline.

You will:

    Obtain a working knowledge of the SAS Viya 4.0 Analytic solutions architecture across different layers such as UI, API, CAS, and integration points into the larger Viya 4.0 ecosystem.
  • Understand the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline as implemented by SAS.

  • Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and support peers to promptly triage failures with precisionand accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline.

  • Route issues to the appropriate teams and follow through to resolution.

  • Develop tools and integrate processes for quicker bug identification.

  • Practiceeffective techniques for deployingand operatingSAS software in a multi-cloud environment.

  • Challenge the status quo every day and never stop improving quality engineering practices.

  • Protect users from escaped defects, participate in support escalations,and value Customer Experience (CX) above all.

What we're looking for


  • You're curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.

  • 5+ years of enterprise experience in software development, automated testing, or similar.

  • Ability to use debugging techniques to narrow down failures within the system: critical log viewing, examine system metrics, understand multi-tiered solutions.

  • Comfortable working with web-based microservices, REST interfaces, and theOpenAPIspecification.

  • Functional experience building CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, Gradle, Spinnaker, Argo.

  • Demonstrated proficiency inmultiple programming languages: Go, Python, Groovy, Java.

  • Proficient withsource control management techniques (Git) including branching, code review,and merging.

  • Comfortablewith containerand container orchestration technologieslike Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, or other tools used for application and system monitoring with Kubernetes.

  • Working knowledge of at least one public cloud interface (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
