To be able to follow instructions and retain knowledge on Waukesha and other natural gas engines. Works with lead technicians who are assigned to be their mentor. Promote safe work practices and insure that JSA and all HSE requirements for job are followed. Learn to complete detailed daily service reports. Work with lead technicians to learn the proper procedures in trouble shooting and repairing natural gas engines. Class C technician is a trainee with little to no knowledge of the natural gas industry.
Duties and responsibilities
The Field Technician - Class C is responsible and accountable for, but not limited to, the following:
Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor/management and or lead technician (Mentor)
Work safely and maintain the work with high standards of housekeeping
Demonstrates satisfactory productivity for job task assigned
With direction from supervisor, complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement
Performs required Preventative Maintenance activities as directed by supervisor
LO/TO of every job assigned and reviewed with crew
Must own basic tooling for position, (open end and boxed end wrenches from 1/4 -1"), (3/8"and 1/2" ratchet and socket sets), (Air impacts 3/8, 1/2), (Screw drivers sets), Hammers, sledges, and a fluke 87-volt ohm meter, at a minimum)
Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor/management
Qualifications
Must have a mechanical aptitude
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid driver license and have a driving record that complies with WPI insurance requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have effective communication skills (listening and comprehension)
Basic knowledge of a 4-cycle natural gas engine and their components
Knowledge and experience of tooling, hand and pneumatic
Knowledge of safety aspects when handing tools and working around natural gas engines and compressors
Basic mechanical principles and mathematics
Must be proficient in computer skills (basic operation, Windows, and Micro Soft Office)
