Coherent is a world leader of lasers, optics, and sensors for scientific, precision manufacturing, life sciences, semiconductor manufacturing, entertainment and many other sectors of industry and government.

We are seeking a Staff Development Electrical Engineer to develop ultrafast laser technology. This position, in ourControl Systems Groupin Santa Clara, is responsible for developing electronics and software for laser systems in 3 ofCoherent'sbusiness units.

Specific duties will include:

• Technical development oflaser control electronics for high powered industrial lasers, ultrashort pulse research lasers, and low noise imaging lasers


• Working with Physicists, Optical Engineers and Software Engineers to develop uniqueFPGA and embedded controllersolutions for new laser products and applications


• Solve challenging technical problems as part of a team


• Working with contract manufactures to produce and test controlelectronics


• Providing on-going product support to manufacturing, marketing, sales, and service

Education and Work Experience:

• RequiresBSEEandten (10)years of experience.


• 5 years of FPGA design


• PCBA schematic capture


• 2 significant projects in low noise power system design


• Somehigh speedanalog interface design


• Significant Transmission line and filter design experience
