Job Description:

Overview
The Deli Manager is responsible for supporting the operations of TDs Deli, including aiding in staffing, supervision, fiscal accountability, sales, quality control, training, food safety and sanitation, and implementing control systems to meet budget expectations in the deli department. Develops long range goals concerning the department with the store manager to support continued growth and business expansion.

Responsibilities


  • Provides excellent customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensures fresh and appealing displays by keeping cases and shelves clean and in stock well by front facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out of date or unappealing products.
  • Assists in ensuring that all policies, procedures and standards are followed.
  • Utilizes the Managers Red Book, including: stocking hot and cold cases with assortments from the deli and CDC, deli prep (baking, slicing, wrapping coding, discarding waste etc.) in preparation for MTO breakfast, lunch and dinner business.
  • Collaborates with the store manager regarding the recruitment, hiring, on boarding, performance review and terminations of deli associates as necessary.
  • Maintains and monitors the food preparation areas, fresh case, deli meat and cheese case and ensures that all areas meet or exceed safety standards for employees and customers.
  • Aids in training, supervising, coaching and developing deli employees in all areas of the deli including use of equipment, food preparation, portion control, preparing and stocking authorized grab and go core items, merchandising, stocking of walk-in cooler and freezer, proper rotation (FIFO), labeling all open food with use by dates and cleaning.
  • Proper and timely ordering and receiving of product for vendors, including Boar's Head, CDC and US Foods.
  • Ensures that products are correctly received, inspected for code dates, ordered accurately and properly stored.
  • Responsible for accurately recording of food waste in the deli and ensures that deli associates record daily production and waste on control sheets in the Red Book.
  • Ensures that deli associates are compliant with food safety and food allergen requirements.
  • Utilizes and collaborates with management team to ensure that all deli employees use the Manager's Red Book to complete duties and communicate between shifts.
  • Collaborates with store manager on developing department goals and communicates goals and other information concerning the deli to deli associates.
  • Schedules and leads deli department meetings; attends store and regional meetings.
  • Executes promotions and sampling programs in the deli department.
  • Conducts scheduled inventories and submits reports to FC and FFC.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to work on time and when scheduled.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • 3+ years related experience and/or training and 2+ years of management/supervision experience a plus.

Work Schedule
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Functions

  • Use of tools and equipment, including box cutters, ovens, grills, slicers, knives and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Job requires bending and lifting.
