JOB TITLE: Human Resource Business Partner

DEPARTMENT:  Human Resources

 

JOB SUMMARY

The HR Business Partner supporting the Scottsville Manufacturing Operation for CooperVision is an employee facing role and provides a professional level of partnership to employees and managers. Reporting to the Sr. HR Manager, this position will be responsible for recruitment and retention activities, on-boarding, employee relations, employee recognition and communication, policy implementation/interpretation, affirmative action tracking, employment law compliance as well as wage and salary administration.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Implements and supports human resource programs by providing human resources services, including performance management, employee relations and engagement, talent acquisition, employment processing, and other activities in support of the business goals.

  • Partners with Sr. HR Manager and facility leadership to ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures.

  • Plans and supports the daily activities of recruitment, promotional opportunities, job postings, and placement.  Coordinates requisition and posting process, job descriptions, interview scheduling. Fills entry level and professional positions.

  • Participates in the interview process to determine suitability for position, providing feedback to managers and candidates as to fit for position, references and extending offer to candidates and reviewing all new-hire paperwork for accuracy.

  • Assists with annual Benefits open enrollment period. Assists with communicating changes to employees. Conducts employee presentations. Processes changes within deadlines.

  • Conducts New Hire Orientation and on-boarding process.  Coordinates and oversees drug testing and background check process.

  • Strives to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise.

  • Advises supervisors, managers, and employees on consistent application of established policies and practices.  Communicates policy changes or clarification as needed.

  • Effectively partner with Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, L&D, and other HR resources to provide the highest level of service to assigned managers and employees.

  • Supports the performance appraisal process. 

  • Acts as liaison between management and employees to resolve work-related disputes.

  • Prepares information for AAP/EEO-1 report annually; maintains applicant tracking.

  • Assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Prepares a weekly headcount report and other data as needed.

  • Produces reports which depict SVMO data reported up through America’s Manufacturing Organization (AMO).  Responsible for accurate reporting of data to site employees, managers and AMO leadership.

  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Stays abreast of changes in laws, case law, regulations, policies, and programs relevant to employee relations and employment practices.

  • Completes special projects and other duties as required.

SCOPE

Essential role contributing to the day-to-day operation of the Human Resource function for the Scottsville Manufacturing facility, but also participates as part of the CVI Rochester NY HR team. 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Knowledge of US employment law and practices.

  • Solid understanding of interplay between FMLA, Workers Compensation and Disability management.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, FCRA, PFL, ERISA).

  • Demonstrated experience in administration of human resources programs.

  • Pragmatic problem-solving ability.

  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.

  • Strong planning and organization skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication ability.

  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.

  • Ability to exercise effective judgment and sensitivity to changing needs and business situations.

  • Intermediate computer and technology skills required (MS Office Suite, Applicant Tracking Systems, ADP)

  • Progressive level of Excel preferred.

  • Collaborative results-driven approach.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. 

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

EDUCATION


  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • PHR/SPHR certification is desired.

 

EXPERIENCE


  • 3-5 years of Human Resource experience, OR 7 years of progressive experience in the Human Resources field or any similar combination of education and experience
