Job Description:
In keeping with the Mission/Vision/Values of Centerstone, a counselor provides group and individual therapy to promote personal growth and resiliency in the form of emotional, cognitive, behavioral and/or psychological changes in clients with a primary mental health diagnosis. This includes performing continuing assessment of the client's needs and functioning, maintenance of appropriate documentation and development and implementation of personal growth plans consistent with the client's therapeutic needs. A Counselor is required to use independent discretion and judgment when providing services to clients. As part of Centerstone's team-oriented philosophy, a Counselor is expected to actively participate in variety of cross-functional teams and performance improvement initiatives.
MINIMUM CREDENTIALS/REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a Master's Degree in Human Services and demonstrated skill in performing clinical services, or a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and 3 years relevant employment experience in positions that allow equivalency. Bachelor's level SAS staff in Level 10.7 positions must have 3 years substance abuse counseling experience and a CADC; Masters Level SAS staff must have certification or licensure within the required time frame mandated by DASA Staff Qualifications (or within 2 years of hire, whichever comes first). Must have valid driver's license in applicable programs. Counselors without clinical licensure remain in a level 10 position (CADC, LPC, LSW). Providers utilizing electronic health records and/or other automated/electronic documentation systems are required to have computer and keyboarding experience and skills or the ability to develop such skills within required timeframes in order to meet the level of proficiency set by the agency. Direct Service Providers utilizing electronic/automated documentation systems will be required to undergo a computer and keyboarding assessment test to determine proficiency.
A Master's level Counselor must meet Qualified Mental Health Professional status in relevant programs. All employees in the Counselor position must successfully complete required background checks and pre-employment screening, including drug screening.
