Customer Service - HS Tech IV at Vitalant in Mather, California

Job Description:

Shift:  Tues - Sat 10:30 am - 7:00 pm

Base Pay:  19.20 / hour

Shift Differential 8% on top of base.

1. Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.  Is responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.


2. Assures quality customer service to all customers.


3. Receives and prepares routine and special orders for blood products and services.


4. Performs distribution and receipt of all products and samples. Inspects blood and blood products prior to distribution.  Releases blood and blood products from observation. Performs quarantine and destruction of unacceptable products. Coordinates shipments of bio-waste. Releases components from restricted quarantine.


5. Assures accuracy of all manual and computer generated records including secondary review of assigned forms.  Performs data entry for manual invoicing and credits.


6. Monitors and maintains Hospital Services equipment and vehicles and updates applicable records and charts.  Performs quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures.   Performs corrective action for unscheduled storage alarms and documentation of equipment maintenance, as needed. 


7. Performs equipment validation and calibration. Performs and schedules assigned quality control of data-loggers and shipments.  Performs timely quarterly storage unit alarm checks.


8. Assists with training.


9. Assists with workflow coordination, as necessary.


10. Performs inventory of blood products.  Reconciles reports and invoices, as assigned.


11. Performs document control of department manuals and forms.


12. Coordinates plasma packing, enters shipments in the database, and generates and  completes all associated records and finalizes shipments.


13. Prepares and labels blood components. Maintains records and performs computer entry.


14. Performs irradiation or transfer of blood components to an outside irradiation facility.


15. Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/ Education

High school graduate or GED required. 

Valid in–state driver’s license required.

Two years experience as a Hospital Services Technician or related experience required. 

1. Good communication and customer relations skills in order to deal effectively with customers.


2. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stretch, reach and sit.


3. Detail oriented to ensure accuracy on paperwork. 


4. Computer skills required.


5. Must be able to work on-call, various shifts including evenings and weekends, and overtime. 


6. Must possess a good driving record. 


7. Able to work independently.
