Overview:

Provides orientation, ongoing education and skills training for staff and travelers. Provides real time input on new staff's clinical practice. Provides leadership through process improvement and supports program development, organizational mission, and goals. Applies the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients and families of all ages.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience: - Graduate of accredited school of Nursing. - BSN. - Minimum of three (3) years of experience in related discipline. - Experience with education, teaching, and organizing and providing new staff orientation. Required Credentials: - Current Washington State RN License. - At time of hire: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions. Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. - As a condition of employment: Current BLS for Health Care Providers is to be maintained at all times by all nurses unless specifically noted below. Note: current PALS and/or PEARS will be accepted in lieu of BLS, and must be maintained as current at all times. Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. (ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above. ) - Nurses working in the Emergency Department and Apheresis Services are required to successfully obtain PEARS within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times. - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 3 months of employment: Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), Cardiac Intensive Care (CICU), Critical Care Float Pool, Recovery Room (PACU), Operating Room (OR), Interventional Radiology (IR), Pediatric Transport Control, Bellevue Surgery Center, Cath Lab & Special Procedures, and ALL Urgent Care locations. Current PALS is to be maintained at all times. - National certification in a clinical specialty area must be obtained within three years of employment. National certification in pediatric critical care nursing required for positions within ICU departments (must be kept current once received). - As per the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for RN's performing moderately complex point of care testing, a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest level of academic achievement to be on record with Human Resources upon hire. For personnel trained outside of the U.S., records of diploma/transcript must provide documented equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency. Preferred: - Five (5) years experience in related discipline. - Management or charge nurse experience. - Education and training experience. - Ability to network on a local and national level with other care providers. - National certification in Nursing Staff Development.
