Job Summary


VP of Product Marketing

The VP of Product Marketing is a global leader responsible for driving the marketing strategy for NetApp's portfolio of software, systems, cloud offerings and services in the B2B enterprise space. This role will work closely with Business Units, Product Management, Product Development, Sales and Support teams and our cloud services partners (Microsoft, Google, AWS, IBM) to identify, implement and execute the go to market strategy for the entire NetApp portfolio. This includes identifying the market opportunity, defining the solutions to take to market, developing marketing messaging, content, and programs, and enabling our sales and channel partners. This is a highly visible, strategic role that will work across the entire NetApp organization to position the company and its products, driving awareness, increasing demand, and creating market leadership. The successful candidate will be a highly effective communicator and collaborator with a demonstrated history of working successfully across all levels of an organization. This role reports to our CMO.

Key responsibilities for this role include:


  • Act as a primary spokesperson for NetApp and our portfolio, internally and externally, working with our Messaging and Communications teams to deliver a compelling narrative on our positioning and offerings.

  • Build and scale a world-class product marketing team with members who are recognized experts in the customers, the products and solutions, and the partnerships that fuel our business.

  • Lead the competitive marketing teams who provide on-going market intelligence and execute offensive and defensive competitive plays around the world.

  • Drive ongoing analysis of the market, customers, products, and the competition, including win-loss reporting, message testing, and product usage and adoption analysis.

  • Define personas and buyer journeys utilizing data, research, and insights.

  • Align with the Product Management and Engineering teams to drive strategy around product positioning for existing products, solutions and services and new launches. Bring new products to market, both internally through sales enablement and externally through press, analyst, and influencer outreach and thought leadership programs. Build supporting awareness and demand generation plans.

  • Provide guidance on content strategy and support the content production team in development of content assets - enabling customers and prospects to easily understand the value proposition including business value, offering capabilities, and differentiation.

  • Partner with the demand gen teams to design integrated customer and prospect journeys that generate awareness and demand. Be proactive in recognizing where pipeline gaps exist and partner with Sales and Marketing to deliver focused campaigns and sales plays to close gaps.

  • Work with the Learning Services team to develop sales plays and GTM programs that help drive the pipeline, find new buyers, and cross-sell into existing accounts.

  • In partnership with product and customer success teams, develop solution-based offerings focused on solving customer pain. Define solutions based on vertical-industry use cases. Deliver solution marketing programs that include messaging, positioning, and content that drive awareness and demand for solutions


Job Requirements


Requirements:

* 15+ years Product Marketing experience

* Experience in Cloud software, and storage systems

* Experience with flash and software defined technologies

* Possess a blend of business and technical savvy that includes a commitment to a big-picture vision and the discipline and pragmatism to make it a reality

* Analytical and data-driven, with a track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making.

* Possesses excellent written/verbal communication; you are persuasive, motivating, and clear; your active listen skills set you apart

Education and Experience:

*
A Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree is required, or equivalent experience

* MBA preferred

* Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, extremely complex technical projects.
